  • Last weekend, Harvey and I took Oslo for a morning walk from home exploring some local trails we've never walked! I spent the afternoon relaxing, sewing, doing yoga and we cooked our dinner on the fire. It was a lovely day that had me reflecting on the 'gifts' that lockdown has given us - i.e. having time to rediscover passions. I realise how lucky I am to be fairly content in lockdown, but I hope you can be inspired by these videos and that they make you feel a little happier each weekend :)

You're videos are always so warming, thank you for sharing a little slice of your life! I've rediscovered my love for outdoor running, cooking, (made my first shepherds pie) and listening to music presently. It's beautiful what we can create given the time and space.

Thank you. Love your videos. I agree, the gifts of lockdown are all around having time. When the weather is good it’s so tempting to go out, and go far. It’s been good to stay home. I’m doing more gardening, cooking and yoga. I’m also doing some cross stitch to pass the time. Like you, we live in a beautiful part of the country so have the privilege of being able to walk in the countryside which, at the moment is our best precious gift of the lockdown. We’re also discovering the joys of cooperative board games - we have bought several since lockdown started and we’re enjoying them enormously - better than watching telly but not quite as fun as your channel. Keep the episodes coming. We really love them.

Thank you for sharing. Such a relaxing watch and a nice escape from everything. Am a countryside lover/walker/photographer who is locked down in a city. So far have rediscovered reading, my tiny garden (which has camera trap set up to see what wildlife is around) and getting very tempted to try bread making. Your countryside views and countryside living are a real breath of fresh air and something to look forward to each weekend. Thank you for doing these video blogs.

Like you I always want to be doing things and getting away. Traveling. Discovering. Having all those choices taken away has brought a curious, and most welcome, happiness and appreciation for my home, garden and small slice of life within walking distance of my home. I have forged stronger connections with neighbours through little notes in our post boxes, swapping garden produce and chocolate eggs. I have written to friends, all virtually as there is no post in NZ at present. I do yoga everyday. I exercise on my lawn. I have baked hot cross buns. So many possibilities within my own environment that I would never have believed could make me as content as they do. Oh, and your blanket and patches. Love the Tekapo one obviously, just down the road, but also I brought back memories of my Girl Guide camp blanket - it was covered in badges too! I wish I had had the forethought to keep it. I love the idea of your blanket as a family heirloom. I may pinch the notion.

Oh well, freshly baked with slabs of melting butter it'll be yummy. I have done much more baking lately, home work outs, re-evaluated myself (my partner passed away 2 years ago) and learning how to bring my horizons closer i.e. rather than filling tge diary by planning where to rush off to next (hiking)😁 What a good boy Oslo is 🤗 I got a headband from Kooky Sheep. Nice video, lovely music. Just don't let Harvey cook the sausages any more. Let Oslo do it, he will not burn them. 😂
I think the isolation is giving many, time to think and reflect on what is important in life.
Perhaps time to try those things we have been putting off for too long. Reading all those books, writing letters to friends ; learning a new skill or language ; working on improving our health, or in Harvey's case, learning how not to burn the sausages. 😂
For many this will be a time of loss and sorrow. I hope they have, or find faith, that Life will gradually improve and they too can find happiness in the future.
The strength of character in our Nation is exemplified by the courage, humour and determination with which we face adversity. May it ever be so.
At this Easter time, I wish God's blessing to all of us. Stay safe, stay happy and be kind to one another.
    God bless.
    Steven.

I love love love looooove to see your videos! I am also trying making sourdough. Feeding the starter yet! I try to learn a lot from your hiking experience. Iam from Portugal but I visited the Lake District about 3 years ago and was one of the most beautiful and calm trips I have ever experienced. I do practice yoga for about 9 months now (I was a dancer so I am a little more flexible) and I find it a very nice exercise to do after multiday hikings. I only made them 3 or 4 times while walking the Camino but I am now searching for other hiking trails in Europe I would be able to do as a begginer. Any suggestions? Hope you stay safe and healthy and enjoy the lockdown (it actually has some great things too, and is forcing us to think about the way we are living our lives so far). Big hug!

Such a nice video! I've been rediscovering painting and baking, my goal is to master the perfect pastry! Definitely an interesting time and I want to make the most of a bad situation and come out of it a more grateful person :)

My first two weren't that good! This one was also quite doughy but I found letting it prove in the fridge overnight really good for letting it keep it's shape and keep the air :)

What a lovely, calm and relaxing video, thank you. I live in a first floor flat just outside of London and really miss going for long country walks. To help my mindset I have rediscovered painting and instead of buying birthday cards I have painted them. Like you I am not flexible at all but have been doing yoga for about a year, I remember doing a little dance when I first managed to touch my toes, next mission is a headstand!! Thank you again.

Thanks for sharing. I have rediscovered my love for the Boise River. I’m a relaxed 15 minute walk from it and feel blessed to be able to go to it everyday. I have also started fly fishing again and spend hours standing in the water only thinking about the the fish and the current. I really appreciate your filming style, thanks 🙏

Very impressed with your sourdough I am jealous of your success with that. I also like your Dutch Oven, was looking at reviews for some just this morning. I think we are all going to end up a few kilograms heavier, if this lockdown carries on for much longer. Lots of climbers find yoga useful. You are a great example of how to cope with a lockdown gracefully. I have rediscovered reading in this time. Oh Harvey is burning that sausage!

My life was quieter before the lockdown, i worked from home, so much quiet time for this introvert, now I have two kids, husband and my mum here all he time. Lockdown has made me appreciate the space, calm I had before. Can’t wait to get it back. Love your vids!

This was so nourishing to watch Athena, thank you for such a beautiful video! Lockdown has gifted me with an extra appreciation for all the natural beauty close to me (I live close to the Shropshire hills), more time with loved ones, a time for self care and to renew. Cooking and yoga have been two of my favourite hobbies to nurture and explore also! Your sourdough looked 👌🏻 🙏 🌿

Beautiful, occasionally dreamlike qualities and of course wonderful Oslo. I have rediscovered painting including knocking out some Vermeer and Leonardo copies, can imagine the ghosts of these great artists looking over my shoulder "haaah....rubbish", but hey I enjoy it.

Nick Vincent ah so lovely! Ive never really done any painting or drawing but it looks like a lovely way to relax. Even if your art isn’t good I think it’s how it makes you feel that’s important 😀 plus it’s probably better than you think!

Really relaxing watch . Sourdough will always have a special place for me as I used it in my mindfulness exercises some years ago slowly cutting it with my favourite bread knife and eating it slowly and being in the moment . Kind of eating better and eating less and trying to find a sense of purpose and intention in daily routines like others I guess . Love this channel .
