Best of MONO

- Mono have been one of the most profound and cathartic post rock bands of all time and their unique style has been quite a faithful companion for me throughout many years. This 4 piece outfit hailing from Tokyo, Japan have mastered the art of infusing lumbering instruments with visceral melancholic and cinematic guitar licks that leaves their listener dumbfounded and craving for more.
Thanks to Edoardo De Santis of The Chasing Monster (thechasingmonster.bandcamp.com) for helping us with the compilation!
Hope you guys enjoy the mix and leave us a like and comment.

So what does that show. All of mono is the best and most pure
Pile of work,
Anxiety about the future,
Black coffee,
A couple of cigarettes,
*Playing* Best of MONO & blending all the above simultaneously
~Synergy achieved!
I can totally relate to that.
I love post-rock but for all the albums that I've listened to, none of them can ever match the deep sound and wide variety of textures and emotions that MONO invokes with their music. In my mind they are the very best of the genre.
I like If This Trees Could Talk and Echotide as well!
@@bexigah explosions in the sky and this will destroy you are two really good bands as well
why are we not talking about God is an Astronaut!
Love post-rock and I've listened plenty to the bands mentioned above. But with them, my glimpses of true musical euphoria have been fleeting. Reaching for that divine feeling but not quite grasping it. Then I found MONO. The atmosphere takes me to that special place, time after time, track after track. They're everything I ever wanted from post-rock.
I completely agree with you. My favorite track, Silent Flight, Sleeping Dawn, didn't make it onto this list, which is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is it's just achingly beautiful. The curse is it makes me cry every time I hear it. It's so rare that an instrumental hits me that hard...
"Everlasting Light" is Just unbelievably awesome. ❤❤❤
Post Rock will always be that rock I can lean on when I need it most. Such a humbling genre of music. I am so appreciative that I can across this part of music.
I went to Kiev, Ukraine and saw them live, putting on a solid show, just before Covid. I'm 71 years young. I also went to see 3 ballets. Full orchestra's - amazing. I recall every minute of the performance. The kindness of all the people. I can't help but contrast the evilness of another country attacking all the friends I made. The weeks highlight was Mono. This music for me is an escape. Go see them live. I will try to get to Poland in a couple weeks.
Left alne by my wife after 7 years of marriage without a good reason. This music absorbs all the pain
Mono is the most beautiful pure band I have ever heard. The story behind these fantastic sounds are just absolutely unimaginable. Brings you yo another realm of love
I'm looking for the phrases that come in the albums, do you have them?
Best of MONO, almost 4 hours of beauty and greatness of music, they give me peace of mind when everything on life tends to disturb me. Thanks for this stress release medicine.
VOICE OF CENTURIES
WITHOUT WORDS BUT FULL OF WORDS !!! CRAZY😎
Thank you for your words.
The transient essences of being human and our place in the world, our struggles, pain, hope, loneliness, Love...all encapsulated in their songs. Perhaps, that's what MONO really stands for.
Theirs is the stuff of Post-rock Legends.
I unexpectedly fell asleep listening to this.. It was a nice, deep, peaceful sleep. This music heals the soul.
MONO has helped me in my darkest depression phases.
Well spoken, this style of music especially is my anchor in my life ups and downs..something I can turn to for comfort and solace, it is beautiful and powerful listening..🎶🥰
Almost 4 hours of Mono. This is going to be great!!
Mono is the kind of band I always heard about, but never had the willpower to actively listen to, because I didn't know where to start. Thanks for your great work, keep those Best-Ofs coming!
For me Mono tipped over the edge into absolute greatness with the album Hymn to the Immortal Wind, that's a great place to start.
Thanks for the tip!
@@ftm5713 Excelente. He estado escuchando a Mono con su "Pure As Snow". Since ever, I've been fascinated with this band. Greetings from the Dominican Republic.
i thought mono was a disease short for Mononucleosis
bro, MONO is so theatrical. feels like im listening to a movie
This band is so powerful. When I saw them live years ago, they literally bought members of the audience to tears. Their live show is an emotional rollercoaster ride.
this is my concentration music. the issue is sometimes I get triggered by their guitar and stop working and just listen to these beautiful sounds :)))). But nonetheless I probably earned quite a lot thanks to them ;)
God, this music is so damn pretty.
Today I am very glad that I found this group, and this is a big joy. thank!
Thank you. I haven't had time for a good Mono session in ages. Just the fact that this video exists made me put aside an entire evening for one of my favourite bands. Well worth it
I was fortunate to have seen them live in Phoenix, AZ at a small venue last year - and prior to that.
great peoples makes best music!
If anyone just loves listening to Mono, you will also love listening to "Godspeed you black Emperor". Very similar approach to thier songs.
P.S:- There are no bad post rock tracks. Some are just too good.
Thank you 💙
last weekend i was on my first Mono Showa at Cologne, it was perfectly nice evening with a friend, all fine yeah, and the sound was very well for sure. yeah yeh
Ending of Recoil/Ignite destroys me everytime 1:50:20
Fun fact: I saw them live once and "Requiem For Hell" was so loud and noisy, I almost passed out, whole audience stopped having fun for a while lol.
I just wanted to thank you, Recoil/Ignite was unknown to me and just by curiosity from your comment has become an instant favourite...
Same went to see the for this tour when they came in montreal and it was so packed and loud. One of the best concert I've ever been to. Mogwai plays very loud too.
Every time I hear the guitar at 1:09:40-1:09:58, I think its about to play the guitar part in Coma White by Marilyn Manson. Great 4hrs!
favorite band of all time, orchestral post-rock odysseys, thank you... saw them in osaka for the beginning of their last tour -
Moonlight is so missed in this video. Anyway ,thanks for your beautiful mix and hard work , keep it up 💜
One of the first "post rock" bands I got really into (Hymn for the Immortal Wind and You Are There my favourite albums). Thanks for including album names as I previously suggested ...now please make a best-of for a band I don't know! 😉
Great to know that your and my favourite albums are the same!! Can't get enough of You Are There in my life. And I am trying to cover all the big and most respected bands first, so that I can move on to more obscure ones later on. Stay tuned!
@@wherepostrockdwells maybe you could try a compilation of Dan Caine, or Hungry Ghosts?
I love how comments are fresh
CZcams autoplay algorithm got me here, had to stop working for a while just to actively listen.
This is beautiful beyond words.
There's a MONO concert in a months time in my city and i've been somewhat undecided whether i should go as i wasn't able to get into their music whenever i tried before. Then this came up in my recommended list and i decided to give it another shot; 2 tracks in and i was almost ready to drop it, but then it finally clicked at "Death In Rebirth", and soon i was absolutely enthralled by the music. So yeah, thanks for your best of mixes, would have really missed out there without you :)
Wow! I am so damn glad that you got intrigued about MONO from this mix. Trust me, MONO are legendary on stage and it is gonna be an experience of a lifetime! Cheers ^^
@@wherepostrockdwells Totally agreed with live shows of Mono! I've seen them a couple of times, and I don't have words to describe the vortex of feelings they can create with their music!
@@markosh9202 saw them last year... still cant get over it... my god what a performance... best live band... they play with ur feelings... stays with u forever...
Can't wait to see them again in Bologna next week
thank you..now i can do my homework

post rock forever i adore it specially mono
YES !!!! Burning the midnight oil and WPRD and MONO are excellent company while raking my brains for goddamn miraculous analysis I need to produce for the assignment due in 4 hours (oh god >.
Good luck! I got a semester group project to do in a few days D: :D
Rob Johnny Tanen thank you! And good luck to you as well (: group projects are a whole other nightmare so I hope you have good partners!
Underground Rouge Society
Thanks! There's 5 of us, but only 3 of us are really working. Out of the 3, I've done the most work. And there's so much that needs to be done! Literally spent full days on this without sleep. Will probably do that today too hahaha Stay focused and determined and you will finish!
Rob Johnny Tanen just submitted mine! Hopefully yours goes well too (:
Underground Rouge Society I hope your submission went well! MONO have helped a lot during some of my most difficult endeavours and I can't thank them enough!
Thanks a lot!
Perfect
You might as well added their entire discography to this. If you ever do a part two for Mono, add "Jackie Says" from Under the Pipal Tree and "Little Boy (1945 - Future)" from Gone.
Thanks for this, I'm loving it.
so there are TWO groups named mono.. good to know.
Wow amazing thanks so much

I know of this amazing band because they inspired Fightstar & that's why they have a song called Mono.
such a good idea
Thank you!! This is the best of the best band!!!
good now i can go on with my life
I can't really understand this situation. Almost every pop music has millions of viewing but when it comes to real music like mono there is nobody to listen??? I can't understand how can other people don't know this kind of music and how can they prefer pop music to post-rock?
After the apoclapse when everything has ended....somewhere a kid will find this music....maybe maybe it will be a new beginning...
Maybe because people have different tastes and it's okay? it's like saying "i can't understand how can other people prefer yellow to real color like blue!"
Also a part of pop music is probably design to appeal to the most. Which is not the case of "small" genre like post rock, and other that i may not know, and who are probably offended that i don't.

There is a lot of music artist from around the World people are not familiar with.
Some of it can only be found on CZcams.
People often get stuck listening to one genre of music. They make a playlist and listen to the same playlist repeatedly of that same genre. R&B, HipHop, Rap, seems to be the preferred genre in the top music charts.
People have their own preferences in artist.
I prefer a wider variety of music from artist around the World I never knew about and only discovered on CZcams.
@@davidfromamerica1871 theres a reason its called pop, its just popular music

Great collection. But my man! YOu missed some stunning tracks from "Under the Pipal Tree" album! :-)
The Kidnapper Bell and L'America

beautiful picture. Where can I get this, anyone?
How is this style called?
Everyone knows that the best Post-Rock comes from the USA, Poland, Russia and Germany/Austria. But the absolute two best Post-Rock groups come from Ireland and Japan.
