I heard about the bridge on my way to work this morning. I thought about you. Glad you are good. Man that was crazy Prayers to the ones who were on the bridge.
@@kingpin7673 the weight of the container ship, even at that speed would absolutely demolish the bridge pylon (or pier). I'm not so sure that the bridge wasn't structurally sound. They are not designed to withstand collisions with large vessels. I am not saying that there should be changes. Large vessels pass under bridges like that in America everyday without incident, but this has happened before, just not to this scale maybe. I think at the very least bridge designs will change moving forward, but I have some ideas on how to prevent this in the future. No one will want to pay the cost though. Safety is always the last line item in a budget.
