Andrew, you said there were different song on the new red version, what are they?thanks.
@@invisibleray6987 I didn't ask you.
Judis, The Red album (1963-1967) collection has been expanded with 12 additional tracks added chronologically, including for the first time some of George Harrison’s earliest songs and some classic Beatles versions of R&B and rock ‘n’ roll hits that were so influential on the band. Extra additional songs include: Taxman, Got to Get You Into My Life, I'm Only Sleeping, Here, There and Everywhere, Tomorrow Never Knows and Girl. The 2CD collection now contains 38 tracks, 30 of which have new mixes for 2023. The booklet contains new sleeve notes by journalist and author John Harris. As for the Blue album, it has 9 additional tracks, including “Blackbird”, “Glass Onion” and the new song, “Now And Then”. The last Beatles song, “Now And Then” completes John Lennon’s 1970s vocal and piano demo recording with parts played by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, as well as a new arrangement for strings. I suggest you buy it from HMV or a local record store instead of tax avoiders Amazon: hmv.com/store/music/cd/the-beatles-1967-1970-(2023-edition)-2cd

@@JamJam0189 thank you so much for that info,I will go to have.
"Real Love" and "Free As a Bird" should have been on the Blue one.
Unless there keeping them for a Anthology Revamp!
Maybe they will release an expanded version of „1“ with both songs included😂
Why?
I have them on the original vinyl.
@@MarcusMaximus909 Completely agree. Could we have another Anthology volume on CD, or a Director's cut of the Anthology TV series on Blu-ray? The possibilities are endless really. I'd love to see a re-release of the Anthology series in some form, but please, let's have a Rubber Soul Deluxe set first?
Now and Then just gets better and better! I am singing it all the time and just loving it so much.
Me too. Can't get it out of my head (as the ELO song goes).
Have you stopped crying yet? 😉
@@AndrewDixonMusic I've slowed down on the need for tissues. 😄
Sorry to spoli the mood. I think they will "find" a lot of Beatles leftovers by the band all the time...Just like with the 'Free as a Bird/Real Love' in the 90's.. They convinced me that THOSE would be the last songs by the band... BUT here comes (not the Sun but) AI to save the day... And we can play this "last song" game til..wait.. my guess is year 2060 (the advent of the band) and beyond. AS MUCH I love the Beatles and their greatest achievement, being (for me) the Abbey Road (1969) album, which I think was the start of the HiFi era(anyone hear of stereo?) and it is a wonderful recording... But as for the MUSIC?..Come on.! Please listen to other music of the 1969-70 era. The Beatles was outdated even THEN. Like Elvis. And Elvis hated the band (check it out And find out)..But that is JUST me. Many of you think I am not in the the mood to get the Beatles back.. SO answer me THIS: Just one final question I need to pose to the fans of this "final" song, Now and Then... TELL me, which songs by the actual Beatles, this NOW and THEN outpeforms by the actual band? Is it better than 'Hey Jude' or is it in the ranks of 'Revolution 9'? And as always, don't go ahead and shoot the messenger (he is dead already, at Marathon).
You got an ear worm cause as a Beatles song "Now and Then" doesn't make the cut.
John's version of "Twist and Shut" is better.
So happy to hear that John’s great rhythm guitar playing is generally louder on the Red Album remixes!
Today the official U.K. website announced that the blue marble 7” was back in stock! Love a limited edition which is only limited to how many they can keep taking orders for! 😂
“I Hope you Like Bongos!”” Haha. My favorite quote Andrew!
I think it’s all fun to change the mixes. Great to hear things in a new way! Great video as always. I’m super pumped to get mine Friday 🙏🏻
I think it’s essential to listen to all these new remixes on really good over the ear headphones or good quality speakers.
Just what I did today. Superb
Can’t wait to get both CDs red and blue , thank you for your expert input on your view of these albums . Now and then I think is superb . Thank you for taking the time to give us fans of the Beatles an early viewing . I love the way you change the vinyl behind you 😊keep up the good work Andrew 😃
We would buy 10 different mixes per year if they would do one track more each time…….sometime the blue album will have 58 cds and the red album 83 cds for 30.000 euros and we will buy them. So, there is no point in reviewing anything. They will sell it anyway.
Andrew, great presantation, thank you. Your posting are ALWAYS so well done. Watching your postings, for me, is like sitting with my fellow Beatles fan, exchanging our thoughts so it is so satisfying to listen to you.
thank you!
Thanks Andrew. I love the amount of detail you give in your reviews, it’s much appreciated.
Even though there has been disappointment that Free As A Bird and Real Love were not included in these sets, I'm more disappointed that the Beatles' Movie Medley wasn't included, this was the best chance of finally getting it released in over 40 years. I think that now it will never again see the light of day.
What is the movie medley please?
Jive Bunny I disturbingly think
Ok, no offence, but why on earth would they put movie medley on there? I cant think of one good reason other than it hasn’t had much attention.
The Beatles Movie Medley is a greedy money grab made by Capitol Records (NOT The Beatles) and it is NOT canon!!! It will NEVER be released again. Actually most of Capitol Records North American Beatles releases are examples of greedy money grabs!!!
@@johnwelch5132 No, it was put together by George Martin for the REEL MUSIC album. Martin's involvement makes it legitimate to me. czcams.com/video/v-ATdxEjI1c/video.html
Thanks for all the effort you put into listening to the different versions ,looking forward to you in depth look in the future, well done.
The bass line in "Nowhere Man" has always been one of my favorites from Paul McCartney, so I'm glad to hear that it is more prominent in the 2023 mix. It is too soft in previous mixes, in my humble opinion.
Shut up.
From his description, I got the impression that he wasn't saying that the bass guitar was mixed more prominently, but that it was made DEEPER, i.e. lower frequency, upsetting people who are not bass-heads. Some of Giles' previous remixes have been a little too "bass-heavy" for my tastes.
Thank you very much for taking the time to do the in-depth reviews of certain songs listening to and comparing various mixes and giving us all a great preview before release date great work great video
Thanks Mike 🙂
Thank you for the detailed information that you gave on those wonderful Beatles songs. Can't wait to hear them!!!!
Thanks tons of detail as usual ,look forward to listening
I received my copy of Now and Then from HMV this afternoon. It sounds great on CD, it seems they have cranked the volume up for this one.
Keep up the excellent work Andrew. Your in-depth reviews of all things Beatles is FAB. I was only going to buy the RED because I thought I'd already had the BLUE remixes from the previous full album releases... You sold me on the BLUE.... Thank you from Canada
So glad you shared your thoughts about these mixes. I’m only going for this release on cd. Looking forward to explore it once it arrives. ( normally don’t purchase multiple copies of vinyl- but, I did pick up 3 variants of Now & Then - this was a special exception!).😊
We all do exceptions with the Beatles…..
I have to add, having listened to the Red at high volume on headphones, the remixes of the early songs are MAGNIFICENT. Apart from Roll Over Beethoven, which seems to have quite a wide stereo separation and not so different from the 2009 remaster, the others are simply stunning. Roll on the remix of the first four albums, and hopefully Rubber Soul soon too.
The official take used on the stereo version of "Please Please Me" John gets confused on the verse. This mistake should easily have been fixed. Has it? Who knows from this vid.
Great first look/listen review, Andrew! Looking forward to the full vinyl review when you’ve got them on-hand. Thank you as always.
Nice review and information. Looking forward to these releases.
Great info! I can't wait to receive my sets!
Clean intro Dear Prudence is worth the price of admission! ❤
Another great comprehensive album review - thanks Andrew!
Thanks so much for this brief review, so looking forward now to my four CD Red and Blue box coming, hopefully by the weekend at the latest. These sound like an interesting and fascinating listen, esp Walrus and the "clean" intro for Dear Prudence. You've whetted my appetite for these mixes Andrew, and I can't wait to hear Ringo's Bongo's.... Hopefully be able to join your livestream on these two classic comps...
Thanks man really appreciate all the work you've put into these reviews, just ordered the 2023 Red and Blue CD's! Can't wait for the new Rubber Soul remix!
Hi mate.
Superb.
I am glad that I got my Now And Then CD-single.
Enjoy listening.
I got my 4CD Friday plus the 6LP black vinyl set.
Enjoy them ..
Tale care
Superb insight, thank you. I would have missed a lot of what you have brilliantly highligted.
Thanks 🙂👍
Thanks for the video Andrew. Very good comparisons. 👍🏼
Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Thanks for the review and have got me rather excited about getting the Red and Blue albums on CD. The tracks you have reviewed sound amazing and I should the the rest will be the same. Thanks for an excellent channel. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Yes! Clean intro to Dear Prudence! I've been wondering whether they would do that, like they did the clean intro to A Day In the Life!
They should have said Bonus Track(s) for Now and Then on 67-70. Free As A Bird and Real Love should both be included.
Absolutely Awesome Review Andrew as Always
I want my copies so badly. Thanks Andrew excellent analysis on the songs you’ve heard
These two albums are for me, a treasure of me, I ha school friend who is really into his music, he always collected a load of records from the 50’s onwards, & he lent m these two albums & this was my introduction to the Beatles, just after watching let it be on the bbc on Boxing Day,& because get back was on the blue album & from strawberry fields onwards just blew me away as a 14 year old, then my friend wanted his albums back, so I reluctantly had give them back, so I went on a mission to my mum & dad to buy me these albums & I eventually got them, unfortunately my mum & dad are now ling gone, but I still have the albums they bought me & they still sound as new on the 40 odd year old vinyl that I have.will I still buy these albums, you bet I will ❤
I hope you do the same life chat with these cd's as you did with Revolver. That was fun.
THANK YOU ANDREW, HAVE A GREAT DAY AND ENJOY.
Andrew, excellent preview of this new release. You have great knowledge about the Beatles catalog. Always enjoy your insights and videos. Best regards, Jim from NJ-USA.
Thanks Jim 🙂👍
I'm buzzing for the red and blue box set to arrive. I went for the blue aswell with now and then.. looks great. Enjoy pal.
Excellent video. Loved your song review. Thanks for sharing. I just subscribed.
Absolutely Steller job, Andrew 👏👏👏
I ordered the red and blue CD sets. Looking forward to listening to them❤
Great stuff ! I did order but more of less for collection but now supper excited for to get this! I ordered the Blue hoodie too 😊
Glad to hear you got yours early. I've ordered a tshirt and the Red album on vinyl and they haven't been dispatched yet. I can't wait. Really wanting to hear She Loves in stereo for the first time ever.
Spectacular!!! I'm one of those people who like to hear the distinct components in the remixes. I'm thrilled to hear your early reviews - especially Walrus. Can't wait!
Good stuff thanks Andrew. Sounds like with Yesterday they've done a quasi realistic placement of the string quartet as that's how they traditionally seat when performing. I can imagine this would be awesome in Atmos
Thanks, Andrew. I’m very much looking forward to getting my coloured vinyl LPs and CDs. I may not be able to hold out long enough to wait for delivery and May see if HMV has the black vinyl in on Friday morning!
Interesting review/observations: thanks 👍
Good news that there is a clean break between USSR and Prudence. Gives us an alternative listen to the White Album offerings.
Personally I like the slight distortion to the vocal on This Boy. To me it makes the vocal more authentic and one can have greater empathy with the singer - he’s desperate to get her back . And it shows.
Hey Andrew I just ordered copies of the red & blue cd 💿 album 💿 I can’t wait 👍
Weird to think these CDs make me nostalgic about the 90s from a band from the 60s. I bought these as kid and it's how I started listening to the Beatles. I have all the albums yet I still want to own these.
Thank you Andrew! for your expert opinions!
Great video
You are a great presenter. Thanks for your great insight into these exciting new releases, it’s clear you know what you’re talking about. The Beatles truly are one of the cultural glues of the western world
Subbed & Liked! Enjoyed the video! Good work!
Thank you very much!
I really wish Free as a Bird and Real Love were on the albums.
Bongo Madness, A Hard Day's Bongo. Thanks for the preview. I can't wait until red & blue vinyl box arrives.
Just discovered your channel - thanks for the great video! I was just going to buy the older versions of these CD's until you let me know the track listings were so different - I had no idea! Super disappointed that these are digi-packs and not jewel cases tho....
Thanks for watching 🙂👍
So far I have the red 12 inch from Target. It is SO besutiful with red vinyl and red Parlophone label. Tbe sound of each - besutiful...goosebumps...glad this came out.
I have my Now and Then vinyl on display with the back cover as the main cover.
Me too. The front cover is terrible.
@@andyboyd126 I wouldn’t say it’s terrible, it’s just that it doesn’t make sense as a cover for a Beatles record. It’s something Paul might put on one of his records. The clock makes a little more sense, since it’s a piece of art and they were into that sort of thing.
@@WilRJennings I just think they could have come up with something better with it being the final single. Just my opinion right enough.
I have the 7" blue and the complete Red & Blue vinyl box set coming and can't wait. I normally don't buy different variations of music, and since I have the original 1973 vinyl and the 1993 CDs I wasn't going to spring for the new ones. But after watching the official video of the making of "Now And Then" I just had to get them. It's pretty cool to think that I was able to watch The Beatles on tv when they debuted on The Ed Sullivan Show back in the day, and now get to hear the same songs in a technologically advanced version. By the way, this is the first time I've run across your channel and I must say you do an excellent job of diagnosing this music. Thank you.
Thanks! 🙂👍
Wow, you got them early - can't wait for mine.
Great job,Andrew! If I might add something, I`d say 'The Night Before' and 'No Reply ' should have been included in the Red Album.
I have a theory of why No Reply (and various other Beatles For Sale classics) may have been left off, going to talk about that in my final review video 🙂
Can’t wait to listen to this, especially in Dolby Atmos! Sometimes the Dolby Atmos is a bit different than then regular mix like She Said She Said!
But excited to hear the White Album section on the blue album in Dolby Atmos because the White Album has its 2018 mix already but it’s the only remixed album without Dolby Atmos, so very excited for this Red & Blue!
Thanks, Andrew. Having the additional tracks on LP3 of the vinyl edition is to keep costs low and profits high.
A pity, though. I ordered the CD version because of this.
Hi Andrew, in response to what you said about the difference in love me do to previous compilations. The version that's on the single of now and then is the single version with Ringo on drums. The one on the please please me album, and the version on the 2015 1 album and previous versions of the red album, is the version with Andy White on drums.
I listened to six songs and sounds good to me!
There was always a bit of controversy when these double albums came out on cd format all those years ago. Some fans felt that both albums should have been put on a 2 cd set because of the amount of info that could fit on a cd . These new versions should have been renamed with the extra songs as bonus tracks. I’m surprised that Beatles Inc allowed the original format to be changed.
I am very very very excited about getting the Beatles red and blue album I would definitely be buying the CD versions of those albums and also the vinyl since the track listings are different which is great.
Hey Andrew my Beatles red & blue cd 💿 albums came I got them on my birthday 🥳 is today yes sweet I can’t wait to hear them
Happy birthday 🎂
@@AndrewDixonMusic I noticed they don’t have everything on the blue cd 💿 album when I was reading all the song 🎧 tracks I’m going to listen 🎧 to the blue album 💿 I do like 👍 it thanks for yesterday for my birthday 🥳
I'm getting the cds because of the chronological tracklisting..looking forward to hearing all these new mixes together
Thanx for the info about "Please please me". I was wondering about that. And about the "Back in the USSR/ Dear Prudence" segue.
Thank you, that was very interesting
Glad you enjoyed it
These mixes are insane!!!
I like bongos! Thanks mate for your review. Always informative 👍
We enjoyed watching "The Beatles and the BBC" tonight with footage never broadcasts here in the States. It ends with the "Now and Then" Official Music Video.
Giles said in a couple of interviews that Paul asked him to mix "Red Rose Speedway" in ATMOS.
Stereophile magazine gave "Now and Then" four stars for Performance and four for sound.
Cheers mate.
Wow, I thought I was a Beatles anorak 😂 Your knowledge and passion is brilliant.
Paul said they couldn't do anything about lifting John's vocals on Now and Then in 1995, so give it time and This Boy will be worked on again..
That was a fab watch Andrew. Keep up the good work ❤
Morning Andrew my triple vinyl of red and blue an all the different versions of the new single arrive today, I've listened to the red album via Spotify an a few of the songs sound a bit better but I think they will all sound better once I put it on the turntable, can't wait really excited...
Appetite thoroughly whetted for Friday, both for the CDs and the Atmos mixes on Apple Music. Always good to hear a nuanced, considered assessment of Beatles remixes (cf Pepper 2017 onwards) that skews towards a real love of the music (as oopsed to jaded dismissal of the remixes & Giles himself).
Lovely Andrew hope apple sent you that 😁 interested to see all the new songs added..
No I paid full price, just happened to come unexpectedly early!
@@AndrewDixonMusic haha result…I haven’t seen all the added tracks.. a few shock inclusions I’m sure
@@AndrewDixonMusic now and then 67-70 trying to make any sense of that (the other two should be on that too)
Thanks Andrew for the teaser! I have the coloured 6 LP vinyl set and also the marbled 7"
....but it looks like the official single is going to be sent along with the big box set which is a little annoying! I doubt i will have them on release day but fingers crossed. I already have the 2014 vinyl set which sounds superb so will be interesting to compare!
I'm really looking foward to hear nowhere man, that song sounds really beautiful in mono.
Just got my copy of the Blue Album, waiting for Red to arrive today. And while I understand the reticence involved with putting "Now and Then" on a 1967-1969 compilation...
Is there ANYTHING more perfect than having "The Long and Winding Road" being followed up by "Now and Then", two songs of abandonment and loss, longing and love, one written by Paul, the other by John, being right next to each other and forming the coda to a Beatles collection?
Damned thing brought me to tears and a cathartic realization about my father's passing. In one listen.
Just like "Now and Then" itself - all my reservations about anything are just washed away by the music.
As John sang, "it's gonna be alright."
Lucky guy, getting to hear the whole thing early!!
I also agree Real Love and Free As A Bird should be on the Blue only due to the fact that Now And Then was included. That being said I understand why it was left off. Now And Then should really be on Anthology 3 when you think about it.
Free As A Bird, Real Love, Baby It's You (BBC Version) and The Beatles Movie Medley should all have been included.
muchas felicidades y mis respetos por tus conocimientos musicales mi estimado andrew dixon
surprised that they included cover songs this time around.
although, personally, I've always thought Twist and Shout SHOULD'VE made that exception back in the original release.
i think that's the one cover Beatles did that they really made it their own. I mean, I know A LOT of people (including me, back in the 80s..who didn't know that much about this and that in music) who think that's a Beatles original tune.
the rest...I'm not sure whether I would include This Boy...and If I Needed Someone. Personally, I prefer the inclusion of Do You Want to Know a Secret and There's a Place.
On You Can't Do That, it's a toss between that or I Call Your Name for me.
I'm over the moon for all the long deserved addition of the Revolver tracks..that should've been on the album since 73.
but, I was surprised they included I'm Only Sleeping instead of another 1966's non-Revolver number, Rain.
On the Blue ones...
I was surprised at the inclusion of Within You Without You (I prefer The Inner Light as George's Indian track to be included instead...I was also expecting Getting Better, as the additional Sgt. Pepper's track)
The rest: Dear Prudence (glad), Glass Onion (glas, but indifferent), Blackbird (expected).
I did expect instead of those White Album tracks tho, that they would include: Happiness Is a Warm Gun and Helter Skelter...and perhaps, Birthday.
Personally, I would also add I Will..a track that really grew out to be one of Beatles' most well known and beloved classics...but, I'm so glad they deemed the much underrated Hey Bulldog to be worthy of inclusion in this.
On the rest of the added tracks...I expected Oh Darling to be one (I think that's just Paul's best vocals on any Beatles or Wings tracks). I did not expect I Me Mine to be included instead of For You Blue...and I think I've Got a Feeling should've been added to this "expanded" edition.
The Night Before and No Reply should have been included too.
@@babislambadarios9592 oh, from Help, my next pick after the ones already in the red album would be You're Going to Lose That Girl.
Love.
From For Sale, I'd go with the other cover that I think should be on here, Mr. Moonlight.
✌
I couldn`t agree more! 👍Thank you for answering my post.@@isuriadireja91
I’m more excited for the red album than the blue…..mainly because all of them are new mixes.
True... I would only buy the blue for the new I Am The Walrus mix.
@@evertvdb000 I'd get it for completion....but most looking forward to the red.
Brilliantly explained i have the red and blue mono versions on vinyl i really like how they sound. Brought the blue album on cd today and will get the red but not sure is the new vinyl versions be worth the money compared to the cds.
I also miss Long Tall Sally, which was the main song on an EP from 64
I just listened to all the tracks posted officially tonight on CZcams. The one that really stuck out to me was also the ending of "I am the Walrus". As much as I enjoyed the overall remix, can't say I liked the ending at all. Being 67 & growing up with it, I'm use to being stoned & singing along at the end until it fades. I think it was a major fail. Also not mixing the guitars in stereo on "Revolution" was a major fail as well IMHO. Without really nitpicking, everything else I've heard so far I pretty much really enjoyed. Hope to buy it soon.
It has been great following everybodies versions on youtube of what was going to be released in 2023 - Nobody got it spot on though !!! Thanks as always for the info Andrew
Oh thers so many things i want to point out on your review 😮 .. the dark green apple isnt the only thing that differentiates between albums .. the angle of the photo is different, the font on the binding is bigger .... moving onto blue 67/70 .. yes ! Now and then was an original recording by john in his during the 70's.. ..
I’m waiting for my CDs to arrive I’ve already pre ordered them, it’s a shame that they didn’t put the 2 anthology singles on the blue album with now and then.
Btw another great video looking forward to the next one
I’ve bought now and then on 7 inch black vinyl ,I plan to put it in a frame unopened (clock side)
Here in NZ, new Beatles remixes out on 10th November also can't wait to here I am the Walrus, This Boy etc ...
Thanks! Bongos played by Norman Smith.
