    Another big tip is: Try to acquire & equip Legion's might staff. It's a self revive if the mage becomes immobilized. This game is so easy though, it's rare for that to happen in mid-to-late game.

      the faster casting rings on a mage pawn are also a must

    After level 25-30 good weapons have elemental damage permanently on them. Wasting a spot with boons. High Levin for the Harpies and a great all around, High Palladium is a must effects entire party. Celestial Paean also entire party buff very strong. I recommend High Solemnity, it not only silences pesky caster's it also will bring Drakes, Dragons, Griffins out of the sky and drop them. - Take care Minnow

      This is a good setup.
      However some of the best weapons in the game don’t come with elements built in (Hydra husk, dragons dogma, the big axe for warriors)
      If you are running weapons with built in elements then sure you don’t need to run an affinity, absolutely agree with you. But most people, especially new players, don’t run elemental weapons. So an affinity is a must have in my opinion.

    2:14 - that's what the other two pawn slots are for. The mage is the only one that can HEAL you with magic - and the game's AI in the first game was ridiculously frugal with casting it if you didn't make sure that Anondyne was basically their ONLY spell. I really don't think they've done much to improve it; so since I'd rather my healer pawn be able to actually do the job I want them to do; Halidrom and maybe the cluster attack blocker spell is the best I'd go. You can take a thief and a Warrior to cover your bases elsewise, or a thief and a sorcerer. Archer if you don't want thief. Kinda depends on what you main as the Main Character. (So far I've maxed thief; I got the 6 ranks in Sorcerer - Pain in the Ass - to get the knockdown resistence augment, and I'm going to try maxing both fighter and Warrior. One of them has a move that lessens the impact of the loss gauge, and the figther lessens the time of crawling) I figure I want to see what an Arisen that has the knockdown resist ring on with the augment, with Warrior as their class. I also really, REALLY hate the magic system in this franchise.
    * It should be further mentioned that Sorcerer might benefit from some time as Thief; they have an augment that lets you heal if you get the kill. There's also a ring that a specific merchant in Melve sells that does the same. So if you're getting your butt handed to you - or don't want to, those may be helpful at lower levels.

    • @SaltyCinder
      @SaltyCinder  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah but it is kind of unnecessary to have 2 pawns rush after you if you get dragged around by wolves for example. Your mage should be the one that focuses on saving your butt. I don’t want my other 2 damage dealers to stop dealing damage in the middle of a fight.
      And if the entire party is fine and in the middle of the fight, what’s the mage gonna do? Might as well also be doing damage.
      This is just how I prefer to play and with what I have found a lot of success.
      If you enjoy it a different way that is totally fine, you bought the game so play how you wish.
      But I know a lot of other very experienced player agree with my idea of an ideal mage. Doesn’t mean it’s the only way, but it’s certainly a strong setup.

      I am in the process of making “master class” videos for each vocation, explaining their main roles in a party. But it sounds like you already have a good idea on what you want your character to look like as well as your party

  • @garadak7.

    found the hardest 3 enemies are late game saurians/harpys and casters too high on cliffs to be able to target them
    the bosses were cool but unbalanced
    also i found ice to be generally the best element to use all-round

    • @SaltyCinder
      @SaltyCinder  Před 4 měsíci

      Ice is the best element all round. A mage is not supposed to do damage tho. The damage spell is there purely as an offensive defence when needed. Sorcerers are your damage casters.
      The saurians in late game are very weak to strike damage and can easy be stunlocked by warrior or fighter. Harpies as annoying yes but not really difficult
      That why having a ranged attacker in your party is always a good idea, be it sorcerer or archer

    Hey, how do you keep your main pawn from being a jerk and falling off everything that's more than a foot tall? Or endlessly getting lost? LoL my mage likes to think for himself, and he's not very good at it. Even though he's kind hearted, any butterfly is a fatal distraction.

      Capcom is bringing out an update this Month that enhances their behaviour (not sure when)
      But a mage is best suited to be kind-hearted because when assigned anything else they won’t prioritise support which is their main role. They kind of do their own thing if not set on kind-hearted

      My main pawn is Simple during the whole playthrough and he was fine, not always a mage, he was very good as archer too, but mostly a mage. I gave him one weapon buff spell ( lightning mostly or fire ), one damage spell ( ice or fire or lightning if weapon buff spell is fire ). Basically so i can cover two elements, one with weapon buffs other with spell. It seems to me that ice is most common on weapons so i often used fire and lightning combination. He also had that shield spell and that remove debuffs spell or the one that casts a giant light that deals damage ( very useful at night imho, because beside the damage he instantly lights up everything ).
      He didnt fell down or do dumb stuff ever, i think pawns rarely fell down for me anyway. But i micromanaged them pretty often, when at the bridge i called them to me, when in battle i said go, then called back then go again or help me, depending on how battle would go. Other two pawns were most often kindhearted for me ( archer and fighter most often or two archers. I found that warrior/mage/archer/archer is brutal combination...you simply stomp everything ). I had very little problems with them.
      Edit: Oh and i played warrior mostly, tried archer and thief too but not for much, tried Mage and i played it so awful that i was worse than pawns, fell down the cliff, hit the wrong things..etc.. then i returned to my greatsword and never looked back. Maybe it is in the combination ( warrior and main pawn as mage ) idk.. but it worked awesome for me.

    This guy sucks that's why the rif is full of stupid pawn that just stay there during nothing, just buffing you when the game is extremely easy.

    • @SaltyCinder
      @SaltyCinder  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The game is extremely easy to some. If you find it easy I’m glad, but this is supposed to be a guide for new players who don’t completely understand the mechanics of the game.
      Besides we are likely going to get a hard mode like the first game had, and you’ll want your buffs and proper support then😉
