    Californian manufacturer Marimba One make some of the finest marimbas in the world, and after thinking about it for a long time I decided to make my first real concert percussion instrument a 5 octave Marimba One Izzy! It took Jackson and I a few hours to film this monster of a video but I'm glad we did, so that we could showcase this beautiful instrument in all its glory.

    Marimba One Izzy, 5 octave frame

    with Traditional keyboard
    with Classic resonators

    UGH!! Being a Hornist and Violinist (if you don't know about the Horn we're known for being blendable and getting strong, soft.. and really under chord or beautiful melodies or Harmonies. So something like this brings peace to my and others mind XD ) this is perfection in my eye! I've always wanted to play Marimba's and man!!!! Just eases my mind!
    Do you just do reviews (I'm new here. First vid! ) or can I give a song you can try to learn? There's this song from the Santa Clara ( Drum Corp/Profession marching band) that is beautiful and I'm curious on how it would sound on this gorgeous instrument!

    I am trying to decide between a Marimba One Izzy with Enhanced Keys and Basso Bravo Resonators versus a Malletech MJB. I haven't played on either, but have heard that the Malletech has a better bass end, and the tunable resonators are really nice. What do you think? Why did you choose Marimba one? Thank you! Love your videos :)

      Yeah they're so expensive. But if you ever want to get one Majestic has good prices on padauk wood marimbas. Their 4.3 padauk is 2,600 (which is relatively cheap). Rosewood is waaayyy more expensive tho

    Wonderful video! Thanks for posting. Now I can't decide between the aged copper and the black resonators, they're both quite stunning! I would like to ask, what made you go with the traditional resonators as opposed to the Basso Bravo ones?

    • @AdamTanPercussion
      @AdamTanPercussion  Před 6 lety

      Ahaha it was definitely more out of necessity, basso bravo costs an extra $5k or so for me! They do sound great though, and I do personally prefer the copper in real life as it looks more suited to the finish of the resonators ☺️

      Michael Coonce - Just curious, have you found a marimba for marching style music? When performing in a Drum Corps I used a Premier marimba. It's nice and loud for outdoor playing but it's also nice for indoor use. I loved performing on it so much I bought one after my drum corps days. I'm now ready to upgrade to another marimba so I'm selling the my Premier. Feel free to let me know if you may be interested in it.

    in the market for a marimba.... debating between M1 and the Adams alpha. why should I spend an extra grand on a marimba one in your opinion?

    • @AdamTanPercussion
      @AdamTanPercussion  Před 7 lety

      Austin Shoupe Awesome man, I actually wanted to buy an Alpha at first but I bought the Izzy because it packs down a lot easier and the cases are really nice. Also (I know I'm a bit biased ahaha) the service from Marimba One is more personalised than Adams cause they have a small company mentality even though they're becoming one of the big ones now. In terms of sound I think they're pretty close, the Alpha actually sounds really nice! I like the frame better on the Izzy for the gas lift and the rock solid hardware though. So yeah really down to personal preference, I like both 😀
