    I like the fact SG1 spend the entire show going to advanced societies asking for technology to help defend themselves and then Kelowna asks them for advanced technology to defend themselves and SG1 find themselves in the same position, while they might wanna help these guys there is a real great risk they'll misuse the technology.

      That’s one of the things about the show I love. They start out, as the Nox would say, young. But by the end they understand why their allies didn’t just give them everything.

    I liked the Langarans.
    And I find it incredibly hypocritical of O'Neill when he criticised them for not uniting since not only the SG program was kept secret but also O'Neill himself hated the Russians and didn't want to work with them at all

    I remember watching the first episode about Langarans, and thinking they were just one of many planets that SG1 visited for one episode, and be forgotten by the next one. And I was kinda sad, because I really liked both them, and Jonas. I'm really glad that I was wrong, and they not only returned, but Jonas became one of the main characters

  • @dragonfly_86

    I found them frustrating to watch. The constant non agreement and argumentative nature of the three representatives seemed petty. Having said that it was a true representation of how politics works. It was exactly the same when all the major countries found out about the star gate and it took Thor stepping in to make them agree that the star gate should remain in the Americans hands. While I say that they are frustrating to watch I think they are most likely to be a great ally to Earth long term. I wouldn't be surprised if Earth ended up creating a federation of planets and Langara becoming a part of that.

    On top of simple separation to a different planet, the Langaran planet also had a different structure which would also influence their development. We don't know for sure as no other Langaran's were tested but it could be that their subspecies as a whole is more advanced genetically just not to the superhuman level.

    The fact one moon can only be seen from the southern hemisphere and the other only during the day doesn't sound particularly plausible with orbital mechanics. The former because simply, orbits don't work like that. You're either perfectly over the equator or your're technically visible in both hemispheres, the latitudes of dependent on inclination and distance (coupled of course with planetary axial tilt). The latter technically could be placed at the Langara-[langaran sun] L1 Lagrange point (that's not confusing at all as Lagrange points are a real thing), it wouldn't stay there for any geologic length of time, and technically wouldn't be a moon. It would also be really damn far away as well so short of being unreasonably large such that its size destabilizes Langara's orbit or both end up in a "horseshoe orbit" (which would violate the daytime moon requirement for a number of reasons including not being a moon), it wouldn't really be visible. Plus you'd be staring at the sun to try spot it which is kinda unhealthy.

  • @Ooilei

    Jonas is probably descended from an Ancient, same with O’Neill. His genetic differences isn’t because he’s Langaran. If a few thousand years could create a different species, Native Americans would be a different species due to being isolated from other human populations for 10,000 years, but they’re not, because it takes millions of years to become a different species

    • @sg-24
      @sg-24  Před 2 lety

      I guess that would be a good explanation, but O’Neil (and other people we have seen who are descendants from Ancients) didn’t have any increased intelligence or any other special super human abilities. Only the ATA gene which let them use Ancient Tech.

    • @Ooilei
      @Ooilei Před 2 lety +1

      @@sg-24 I think O'Neill is pretty intelligent, same with Shepard, but they just chose to never use that intelligence for math or science due to personal lack of interest. But, I don't think just being a descendant of an Ancient makes you smart, humans are basically Ancients too, save maybe a few million years of development, but still basically the same species. We can interbreed, and they made us to be them, so human intelligence and Ancient intelligence properly isn't that different, but the ones who are descendants of Ancients just have a few genetic advantages that all humans will develop in the future

    • @sg-24
      @sg-24  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Ooilei that's true, there's more to intelligence than just book smarts. Though with Jonas I should have chosen my words better, it wasn't so much was smarter than other people, but he seemed to have a memorization skill far better compared to others.
      There's actually some debate about how different humans and Ancients are to one another. I know Nerd Cookies said something a few months ago about how Ancients have a different way to compartmentalize information in their brains compared to humans, or something to that extent.

In English you would just the nation Japan, but in Japanese is would be Nippon-koku (or Nihon-koku) which the literal translation is State of Japan. I don’t get it, why is it in English would wouldn’t say the state of if that is the literal translation. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but it’s just weird with the Japan thing.

      @@sg-24 Canada's name is because they are a dominion in the British commonwealth of nations, Japan's goes back to the end of ww2. It had been the empire of Japan which obviously would have negative connotations to the rest of asia. After the US reorganized their gov the name was changed from empire of to state of. It wasn't an empire anymore but also not really a rep (because they had a constitutional monarchy) or a federation, confederation, or whatever so they decided to just keep it simple because it is a state so state of Japan.
