Because of THIS VIDEO, I just purchased a pre owned 2013 Mazda CX5 sporr with 172k miles on it for $7000. I was nervous as hell because Im broke, not a mechanic by any means, and cant risk getting into a money pit or an unreliable junker. This Mazda is incredibly solid, smooth and just feels like a new car would feel on the road. Im so releived and proud of my research and truly grateful for your vids!! The CX5 2.0 litre is sluggish but strangely enough, if you time your acceleration right, its quite peppy and it will impress you. The Zoom Zoom factor still lives. Thank you for giving me clarity on this big decision!!
Dude same is happening your comment gave me the courage to by 2014 mazda CX-5 tomorrow
It's a great car but ABSOLUTELY not peppy what so ever. Great for fuel economy but it can't get out of its own way
I just got a 2013 Mazda CX5 from a grandson. It has 214,000 miles on it and it looks and runs great. You'd never believe it has that many miles on it. Great little car.
Mazda is super underrated
People are catching on. Even Scotty has come around.
I got a CX-5 at the beginning of this year and it’s a lovely car to drive.
Mazda is underrated! My 10 years old CX-5 has 156k kms here Indonesia, with severe traffic jams and hot climate weather still makes this car reliable
Yep Mazda is great. Japanese sure know how to make great cars.
does your mazda consume too much fuel?
She's now at 241k. The only issues was the coil packs went bad and caused limp mode and a permanent CEL even after I fixed the packs cause they killed the cat but other than that she's still reliable
was the atf fluid changed? :-( where i live the dealers refuse changing it claiming this is a lifetime fluid
@@victor070 It was changed for the first time at 166k and then recently at 220k myself you just need a 8mm hex bolt to loosen the plug I just changed the fluid not the filter and gasket and all that
thank you!
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO GET 376 MILES OF RANGE WITH A FULL TANK!? I barely get 315 (changes at times)
@@up4221 Just drive very efficient. I go about 60 at most. The furthest ive gone Is 513 miles and the best I've averaged was 40.1mpgs on the way to Memphis
Happy to see how long will mine could go. Great review.
Had a 2008 Mazda Tribute right up until an accident to it out. Loved it. Without watching this video I bought a 2013 over a 2015 sitting at a lot. So happy with the purchase and appreciate your criticism of the vehicle model.
Earlier in the year I found a 2015 Mazda CX-5 with 400,000 kms
My wife has a 2016 cx5 2.5 GS AWD. She bought it used, it only has 81,000 kms on it. I have a 2015 mazda3 2.5 GT with only 106,000 kms. Both have been bulletproof reliable. I plan on upgrading in the next 5 years to the new cx50 or if I can find a used 2021 cx5 Kuro edition.
Got the same vehicle just rolled past 150K miles.... the only Maint that has made me mad was the condenser went.... everything else has been standard wear and tear... and of course fluids!!!!!! Can't wait to keep driving it
The white paint is holding up well this vehicle shouldn't have no problems reaching or exceeding 300,000 miles.
I have a 2011 Mazda cx7 2.5L with 310k miles on it. Have not came across severe issues. Paint still looks great.
@@armanamir72 👍That's great!
I totally agree 300K should be no problem. I've got 160k now. The drivetrain is bulletproof. My only concern is undercarriage rust up north. It's showing a bit more rust than my Honda that's 2 years older. I'm going over it with fluid film tomorrow.
Getting ready to buy a CX-5 2014🎉
Our 14 2.5 Cx5 at 162k miles very reliable to date.
What were your thoughts on the performance/fun factor of this car? James is actually a good friend of mine, so I’m interested in what you though of this car.
While to me, it’s very slow, it is also very peppy and fun to drive (for an suv)
Fancy seeing you here
It always depends how you drive and where you drive it . I got the car from an older man with zero problems . You will need to change your oil and brakes and thats all .Now if you are crazy manual driver like me and tune it up to 300hp while driving it without abs be ready for some new suspension, control arms etc.Now the car has 205.000 km and the engine still works like a new .
Love from Tokyo 🗼🎌
Can you integrate a backup camera on the screen? Would there be an option like that?
Love my CX-5 it’s just turned 10 years old still looks and drives like a new car . Other than a new battery and front shocks the car has been bullet proof and will be upgrading to the newest model preet soon .
2014 manual trans cx5 225k miles.
My 2016 CX-5 transmission was broken at 42k miles. I heard a scraping/grinding sound before it left me stranded on a freeway. Thank GOD an extended warranty replaced it for free. Had to wait a month to get the transmission shipped in from Japan. Very very glad it was from Japan. Other than that solid.
Mine broke at 34K miles. 2016 model also.
@@alphamale2363 I don't think the transmissions were made in Japan. When my was replaced they shipped it in from Japan so they made me feel confident that it will last. I'm at 103K miles and no issues since.
How much did you pay for your extended warranty
@@michelleryan1567 I seem to recall it was included when we bought the car, It was used with only 15k on it when we got it.. Since my transmission was replaced though, the CX-5 has been rock solid.
My 2015 is on its 3rd set of brakes, 3rd battery, new belt and tensioner, rear stabilizers, front inner and outer tie rods, 2nd set of summer tires, replaced the faulty antenna, new muffler and spark plugs.
It only has 97,000km
This will be the last Mazda I'll ever buy.
Impressive!
I'm coming up to 145K on my 2013 CX5, Changed tires, brake pads, and all the other consumables. No issues at all, I just want new car just for the sake of new car, but I don't really see a lot of big changes and improvement from a 2023 model. It even looks the same. Oh, and no paint fading either.
I’m thinking of buy one with over 100k miles 2014 is that a good idea?
@@angeledmonds9731 Depends what kind of shape its in. If its in good shape then they are fine.
2013 cx5 grand touring at 95k anything I should expect to fix? It looks in good condition..thinking of seeing it today
@@bugsta2012 Nothing major. Might need spark plugs, air filter, and belts. Rear brake caliper sometimes seize due to lack of lubrication. Drive it a bit and touch the wheel near the hub to see if it is overheating from friction. If its cool then your good.
Has anyone changed the rear differential? I had my old changed and they told me it needs to be changed every 30K miles. Of course the manual states ONLY at 30K IF driven in certain conditions.
I just go by the manual.
impressive
2013 came with a 2.0 engine 2014-2015 2.5 was introduced. 2017 new front look.
I have a 2015 with 140,000 miles. I had to replace the battery, Front wheel bearing (did both), front right driveshaft seal, fan and drive belts, one rear caliper that froze up, and the muffler and mid pipe. It appeared only the gasket between the muffler and midpipe went bad but the pipe ends were rotted. If you get a Mazda midpipe you have to get a catalytic converter also since it is one unit, I used an aftermarket pipe and you cut the pipe after the converter.
isnt the Catalytic covernter tucked close to the engine instead of in the mid pipe area? Which part of country do you live in that you have rotting issues? mine is a 2015 wiht 60k miles and no issues. runs like new cause I test drove a new one.
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird New York. The converter is near the engine but the midpipe is one piece with the converter.
i am hoping to test drive and buy 1 of these today!!!!
I got a 2023 CX5 Carbon Edition this year and it’s by far one of the best cars I ever had. I came from Toyota as well
200k is awesome
If in rust belt beware of rust around fuel pump. If rust is present don’t buy, it’s a 3k repair job
My wife's 1999 Lexus RX300 just lost cylinder #4 at 391,892 miles do to a burnt exhaust valve. it's the 1MZFE 3.0 V6. Replace the valve and it's back on the road for more.
Does Bluetooth audio work well with this model?
Nope! Not at all. You can hear your caller, but they cannot hear you. Might as well use your phone's speaker phone.
If u like sedans, Mazda 6 >2013 with 2.0 or 2.5 is a great choice
Does CX5 Skyactiv require regular or premium gasoline?
reg
Anyone have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT they are happy with?
Does the Cx5 have the same 2L as the Cx3?
probably
i wonder if this has the same 6 speed auto as in the Mazda 3 3rd and 4th gens
Yes
But it feels very different in the CX5 compared to the Mazda3 (2.5 naturally aspirated). I purchased a 2018 mazda3 hb with automatic transmission and it felt significantly quicker than my 2019 mazda 3 hb. I wish I kept them both. Friggin child support destroys mens hopes and dreams.
Please ,what about fuel consumption ?
Im averaging 21.6 mpg in the city (Houston) so far. So its not bad for a 2.0 equipped SUV. 2wd.
21 mpg avg
Wait...backup cameras weren't mandated until 2018? Then how come the 2006 Honda Pilot had one?
It must be a top trim, or aftermarket that looks oem
@@James-fg3ed it wasn't aftermarket though. It was probably a top trim or close to the top trim, because this one I saw didn't have AWD.
@@damilolaakanni yeah, the exl had a option for a backup camera idk about the ex. Does it have heated seats cause that'll tell you if it's a exl
Just because it wasn't mandated until 2018 doesn't mean older cars wouldn't have them..
Its so big in Europe, even besides a C class. But in America its smallish😂
😇true but way more economical and ecoligal than those over-sized american cousins, eh..
Any of you guys know if the 2013 Mazda CX-9 uses a Ford made engine or something similar to this Mazda CX5?
I think it used a 3.7 V6 from Ford.
Bad design on the 3.7 bad, water pump inside timing chain housing when pump goes coolant mixes with engine oil catastrophic engine failure
@@michaelgoff2790 Sounds about right from Ford
The owner waiting 180,000 miles to change spark plugs?????
Iridiums. I just changed mine today at 160K. They coulda gone another 50K easy.
My 14 cx5 went to shit before 80k
Junk!
What happened?
@@joepearlzz8504 Lack of maintenance
My 2014 cx5 has 226000😊
I want to buy one! 2014 98k miles here in Puerto Rico for $10,500 you think is good choice?
@@rodneyalacan9473esta bueno, aca en Fl estan por ahi, yo tuve una 143,000 nunca me dio problemas!! La cambie por una del 2018 Grand Touring !
No backup camera? Man that is Crucial
Are you a high school girl or something with stiff neck?
No back up camera and look, I'm still alive! What do you think people did before the no backup camera?
@@irandude1655 Put in reverse and pray.
@@gfriedman99 - I'm happy to report that I traded my Mazda with Tesla a few weeks ago. No more trip to gas station and went from zero camera to 9 cameras. Hardly have to do anything to drive. This thing makes me lazy. lol
pff grand touring model is the way to go
@Shooting Cars, question, I'm looking to purchase a 2013 CX-5 Sport Manual. Any suggestions to look for when viewing the car?
The dealer will let me go to a mechanic to get it inspected.
Check the exhaust manifold for cracks.
its not inline its transverse, so many know it alls
Inline refers to the cylinders. Transverse refers to engine position.
@@gfriedman99 Do you recommend buying a 2015 CX5 with 207,000 miles for $7,500?
Bro, I don’t think it’s an in-line engine could be wrong.
Definitely in-line
