Turnout is not naturally inherent for most people. It’s trained.

At the hip? Or the foot?

@@Ikaikadowsett I’ll go with both. I have tight hips. I can train myself by doing lots of stretching/strength training to get some level of improvement. For the feet, again, it takes training to get turnout. Some people do have it naturally, but I’d say most don’t.

@@mamboqueen999 it’s hard to say. The literature seems to suggest a small amount of turnout at the foot is common “The normal FPA is an out-toeing angle of the foot that ranges from 5 ° in children11 to 13 ° in adults.”
Foot progression angle is slight in most people.

@@Ikaikadowsett I’ve also seen a lot of people who are “ding-toed”, having turn-in. I guess when we say turnout, I’m thinking of the optimal for latin dance….which of course depends on one’s opinion.
