Brother Boutwell, I don't know what you're adding to your grits in the morning but it SURE does bless me. Because I had to sit and practice many a day and nothing like this came from it. But then I grew up and sure there were some challenges and struggles as a child, a young person, and then a young adult. There were long nights studying, long nights working, accidents, injuries, hurt feelings and broken hearts. But it wasn't until I produced a child that I was dedicated to and then had to fight to be a part of his life and make sure he knew the Lord. Not until the literal blood, sweat and tears of trying to be live married to what turned out to be a demon and protect the children from it's attacks. Not until I dedicated my life to changint the lives of others, building businesses, builidng a home with my own two hands etc etc and then have it all snatched away. Not until the children and I were abandoned by what was supposed to be the mother. Not until homelessness and hopelessness that birthed a ministry for others. Not until today, when I am still literally praying for the breakthrough can I come upon this song and KNOW, that you KNOW. The song, the arrangement, the the voice with the inflection all come together to touch us all because there's evidence that the Holy Spirit has touched your life. It's not just a performance its' a declaration! Yes Lord, I am standing in the Need of a Blessing and nothing else I can do but HOLD ON! I'm going to go listen to a few more of your songs now.
