    Hey I am looking for a basketball your review has really helped me decide to get a Rubber ball based on what I’m looking for, but now I’m not really sure what ball to look out for I am looking for a durable long lasting basketball for outdoors, I was considering the Spalding street basketball but I’m not soo sure you got any other options that aren’t soo expensive too I would appreciate it a lot.

      I would actually recommend the Wilson DRV pro for a premium rubber ball.
      It has a lot of snap, but interacts very similarly to composite balls far as the backboards and rims are concerned. It has a very reliable, predictable bounce compared to other outdoor balls, & it has the deep channel feel & softness of an expensive indoor ball. So it shoots and feels very nice. The grip is also VERY reliable.
      It’s only 30 USD. Got it a few months back, it became my go to outdoor ball.

    The composite balls are pretty good on mostly clean outdoor or indoor courts (if you can’t afford a leather one)
    However on dirtier courts the composite is really hard to grip and picks up a lot more dirt.
    I usually prefer a premium rubber grip ball outdoors friends happy hooping.

      It depends where you are in the US. We’re a huge country and fairly diverse. There are plenty of courts that are rough in areas where basketball isn’t thought of as a priority. But in general, I would say the average court in the average city is probably fairly smooth.

      Nike True Grip is the best composite basketball ever. I used mine playing 2-3x a week outdoors for 3.5 years (except 3 months of summer) and it still maintained its grippy feel! By the 3rd year it was obviously falling apart but the grip was still perfect. I have yet to find a composite bball that keeps it's grippiness until its dying day!

    • @StreetballStrategies
      @StreetballStrategies  Před rokem

      I think it depends on how a ball is constructed. The bladder of the ball usually determines most of the weight, not the material of the cover.

  • @robertrobinson1454
    @robertrobinson1454 Před 11 měsíci +1

    Rubber feels better for grip. Bounce is better with composite. I feel composite collects dirt quickly and you lose the stickiness of it. When i dribble and catch the ball in the opposite hand, i dont like the feel of the ball still rotating in my hand. I also hate the bounce of rubber, too bouncy. I rather just play indoor.

      It depends on the court you're playing. If the outdoor court is dusty, it doesn't matter what ball you use, they will have less grip than a clean court.

    Can anyone show me a composite ball that maintains its grippy feel for over 8 months on concrete? I've had Wilsons, Spaldings and within 4 months they ALL become very slippery and completely unusable! So far only the Nike True Grip has been able to keep its grippy feel for years but they dont make those anymore.

    • @StreetballStrategies
      @StreetballStrategies  Před rokem +2

      There is no reason for your skills to diminish because of a rubber basketball. Some players and coaches will say to stick to training with the equipment you play with. Pros train indoors with leather balls. My opinion is that the more versatile your basketball experiences, the better. I also believe there’s a proper process, a hierarchy. Beginners should use basic, beginner equipment. Rubber basketballs are THE foundational ball for any player.
