I can't be the only one that's wanted to listen to just the drums... tried to be faithful to the drum dropouts. Tho the drums sound like they completely drop out and leave just the sample, i left the hi hats in cuz it felt too empty. Didn't try to gate the reverb or anything on this. You know that story about Waajeed and Dilla listening to Funky Drummer for like an hour+ in Amp Fiddler's basement?

This one was just an edit so i just cut up the intro of the Busta track then rearranged it. Just wanted to analyze the drum sound lol. But to answer ur question, it really depends. Usually getting an exact mix even with the correct sample sources is really hard.... pretty much impossible, so i settle with close enough or just complete the task at hand/figure out the concept. Like the Waves remake i did, that was pretty much to figure out the chops especially since other videos missed out some key details. Getting the hi hats or kick to sound the same was taking forever, so i settled with the idea that its prob layered drum parts for those.
