    if you loosen the inner bolt of the control arm you will need to do an wheel alignment afterwards, there is no reason to loosen any of the arms or ball joint, just second person and a crowbar, press lower control arm down a little and the strut should be able to go out freely

    Stop turning the torque wrench as soon as it clicks. Adding an extra 1/4 turn afterwards adds a HUGE amount more torque to the bolt. That will overcompress the joint and risk breaking the bolt - as well as making it more difficult when you come to disassemble it.
    I love the way these videos are created though, great camera angles, very easy to see which parts you’re working on 😊

      On a lot of these bolts, Mercedes calls for a certain amount of Nm followed by an additional number of degrees turn. Check the repair manual if you don't believe me.

    Not a good idea to spray copper grease on the brake disk even if you then clean it off. Either spray back of wheel or use a brush so you dont grease the friction surface !

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  Před 3 lety +2

      You are absolutely right. It is important not to spray copper grease on the running surface of the brake disc.

    Great job on the work and filming,but if you are going to replace the strut and the spring why not purchase the complete assembly already put together. Or was this for video purposes to show us how to remove and replace parts either way great work

    Hello I changed the shock absorbers and lower control arms on my 4 magic e280, I then noticed the ride height massively increased the mechanic said it’ll go back to normal after a few drives it’s been 3 weeks but still no signs of it lowering is this normal?

      Hello, was your problem due to the snap ring, on the shock, being placed at the highest grove located on the body of the shock?. How many rungs did you lower down the snap ring if you have done so?

    On that shock you can adjust the high?😮

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi, in order to adjust the height you need special shock absorbers (coilovers) for example BIlstein b16 and it isn't possible to change the height using standard shock absorbers.

I think that Mercedes gets a kick out of making the Mercedes the biggest pain in the ass to work on.. Hell, you even need expensive ass lugnuts for the damn tires.. >

    too much many unnecessary parts u guys took out, all you need to remove is just the upper 3 nuts, upper control arm ball joint and lower strut bolt.

    This is by far the worst approach to change the struts as you only need to undo top balljoint and not the bottom arm to mess up the tracking. Guys is wrong stop uploading video like that as a diy person wil end up having hard time to do it.

      not even the upper balljoint is required for removal, you just need to wiggle the control arm , twist the shock and the shock will be out!
