  • After years of fishing in the Marlborough Sounds, I have never seen such abundant marine life as today! We spent a full day (sunrise to sunset) on the water and caught plenty of fish including snapper, blue cod, gurnard, sharks and barracuda. We saw huge balls of bait fish being herded by groups of seals, dolphins swimming next to the boat, diverse bird life and shoals of kahawai bubbling on the surface. The conditions were perfect, so we ventured right out the Queen Charlotte Sound to the edge of the Cook Strait - the body of water between New Zealand's North and South Islands, where we pumped a big burley trail bringing in schools of snapper and blue cod. Our third episode of our Big Island Boat Tour covers all of the action we had in the Marlborough Sounds, but you can watch the rest of our east coast action preceding this episode on The Angler's Logbook CZcams channel. Next week we visit Okiwi Bay and Durville Island - it's going to be another cracking episode!
Our BIG ISLAND BOAT TOUR will cover the majority of the South Island, and we will be visiting picturesque fishing towns and filming our experiences to share with you over the next few episodes. We're so excited to bring you this awesome footage, so do us a favour and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss any of the action!
We drop new videos every week exploring different parts of New Zealand as we go fishing, hunting, travelling and making the most of any other adventure we find along the way.

And you didn't have any graphite rods with braided reels to throw out some lures into that meatball of baitfish, pitu

Sounds pricey, maybe once we have a gear sponsor 🤣 It would have payed to be more prepared in hindsight

@@theanglerslogbook you can get a softbait set for 150.00 or a stickbait set for kingis from 350.00. Thats some pretty old school gear you use lol. They havent made rods with hard chrome guides for well over ten years. And they make reels much much smaller and believe it or not stronger. Keep up the good work

Sorry mate - you've lost me. This video is entitled "I never seen so many fish....." so I watch it only to [predominantly] hear your choice of background music. Please add commentary on fishing, bait / rigs used and species targeted. Sorry to be a nay-sayer mate, but if I want music I'll head to Spotify or stand in an elevator.
