- The beginning of our Sun n Fun adventure! In this video we depart Chicago Aurora Airport (ARR) for Chattanooga, Tennessee (CHA) on an IFR flight. The STEC 3100 autopilot is still running strong and giving us more time to chat and have fun. Sorry for Jaime's comm issues but we end up getting it resolved for the rest of the videos in the series.

Gotta love an autopilot. I put one in my RV 7A couple years back. I have almost 1400 hours and had NO IDEA how hard I had been working when flying!!! Like you said.... now you can sit back and monitor everything!

That was nice to see the new autopilot working good for you. I had a 'chatty Cathy' along for a flight and in the process of flying the plane and pointing out landmarks I reached over & unplugged her headset. 'Course I wasn't married to her. Thank you for bringing us along. Fly safe
What an awesome video, Kevin. It is good to have Jaime back in 771BC. With all due respect and honor to Jaime, she is one very beautiful lady. You are one lucky man. You two are perfect together. I love the fact that you two are just plain down-to-earth folks, and you are not ashamed to show it in the videos. It makes us feel as though we know you personally. Another great video Kevin and Jaime, you appear to have such a good relationship. It is obvious that you Kevin, are still coming to terms with how brilliant the AP is and that you have become more of a 'manager' in monitoring everything, than you were previously, just piloting ! I wondered when Jaime said she'd seen your 'happy face' before, what she could possibly have been referring to - maybe after a nice meal or something else ! - Anyway looking forward to stage 2 of the flight !

One of the best adventures I ever flew in our Warrior was to Sun n Fun. Many years ago. Glad you had the time to come down to sunny Florida for the springtime. Always a good flight.
Sounds like a lot of fun! We had a blast down there and while we probably can't make it every year, we will try to do it from time to time. :)
@@310Pilot It was a great trip - except for being directed to land on a taxiway and having a plane pull out onto the taxiway just as I was committing to land. Warrior with only 150 horses really can pull you back into the air in the blink of an eye. Proven!

Wish I could've got down to Sun & Fun! One of these days I will. Got alot on my plate this year ... but I might be buying a paramotor pretty soon! Can't wait to fly on my own - so excited!
On the subject of '05 hair (that seems like last week to my old brain, lol), back in my day I remember girlfriends fogging up the entire house with Aqua Net, and using a FAT round hair brush getting those bangs 6-10" tall, LOL - those were the good ol' days! I still love that look ... but nobody does that anymore. 🙁 And the jeans back then - ohhh baby! 😂 I try to get my wife to dress up like '85 every Halloween. I love that. 😁
Nice fix on that comm issue! Would have never guessed! Figured it was a bad connection at the jack - that used to always happen with headphones back in the day. Always nice when it's a "no-cost, no-parts-needed" fix. 👍👍

One of things I enjoy about your videos is your ability to fly with precision . Auto pilots are great for long trips. Thats what I'm working on(precision flying) in preparation of instrument training. Great video.

For the first time I actually saw the Gulfstream pass in front of you going from right to left I was intently looking for it as well nearly said “ I have traffic in sight” before realising I was watching your video, you really make everything interesting and alive all the time thanks once again to you both 👍👌👏

I'm going to leave this right here, this flight was the most fun for everyone to listen to you both. I think Jamie had Kevin blushing a few times on this flight. lol
Nice relaxed flying with good banter going on. One thing that sticks out, for me, is the high speed talking with ATC. I would just have to say "say again slowly". That's a whole nuther way of flying though, compared with farm strip operations but, for sure, all types of flying take me to my happy place and make me smile. I'll look in on more of your adventures, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm with you in that all types of flying put a smile on my face. I love hopping in a 172 and going in and out of my buddies farm strip or taking a flight in a helicopter and everything in between. It is tough when we do ATC in some of the busiest airspace in the country in that you have to get used to talking faster because you don't have enough time always on the freq to get everything done you need. I do catch myself getting fast and try to slow things down. :)

It's nice that you were able to give the new Autopilot a workout, Kevin. It makes the flight much more relaxing.
Jamie may have been onto to something when she asked if you could just set the rate of climb to the standard "500 foot per minute" rate.

Glad you enjoyed it Patrick! It really does make the flights easier and more enjoyable having that thing! When I engage it in a climb profile it auto locks on the current fpm rate. When starting from level flight it starts at 0 which I don't mind. :)

Great video. You guys are a blast to watch. If and when you ever get back down to Sun N Fun Ill have to come over and say hi. I am only an hour away by ground transportation. Great that you got the headset adjusted correctly. It is very apparent that the auto pilot is allowing you to be more observant of the entire cockpit. I notice that with other aviators I watch that when they are on auto they are just scanning and adjusting the settings. Awesome be safe.

@@310Pilot You want to see something really weird. Check out Premier 1 Driver his most recent video departing Colorado Springs I do believe. As he is taxiing looking out the left side of the aircraft as he was passing a bunch of ga aircraft. Then there was the ugly duckling in the mix. I just thought it was the strangest thing I have ever seen. So out of place.

My wife was watching the video with me, she’s seen a couple previously. As you lined up and accelerated, I said “airspeed coming alive” just before you did...then as you called out your speed, I said “rotate” just as you did. My “tap the brakes, gear coming up” just as you said them topped it off. Always look forward to your videos, thanks for posting them.
