I lived on the Halifax peninsula for over 25 years. Spring Garden Rd. , which you walked, was nicely done and familiar territory. First time that I noticed The Captain's Boil restaurant has closed and is replaced with Besharam Bar & Grill an Indian menu eatery was after watching your video. Nice film work ! 👍👍👍

My father's part of the family went to Halifax and the neighboring towns after coming from "old" Scotia on a boat around the mid 19th century.
He was fortunate enough even as a boy in the Great Depression years to be able to visit and stay a while, from Detroit, with relatives at least a couple times..
LOL and those fire hydrants are probably the same ones he would have remembered!
This is certainly done the way a video about Halifax would be done.. if you know what I mean... great job!
I can see the place surely must have changed a LOT and grown a lot since then, but hope it hasn't changed TOO much!
At least the Scottish flag is still flown next to the flag of the new country; which I do love. I'm the only one I know who knows all the lyrics to Oh Canada.
Could also be that I'm a longtime hockey fan haha.
Well, whomever you are Nomad, thank you for the trip!! I'm subbing 🤟☺

@@nomad-ambience Great! Looking forward. I forgot to mention, Dad's sister Rose moved back to Halifax, where the family still owned property outside of town, but they bought my great Aunt's house in Halifax. She's gone now, as are my Dad, his brother, and her sister, all four siblings. Rose's daughters now live in Bowmanville, ONT. And, all the land has been sold now, sadly.
Gosh; I sound like a cape Bretoner, eh?

I’m from Victoria and I’ve never been to Halifax but when I think of Halifax, I often wonder if the two cities are twins. Both towns house Canada’s navy, and both towns are approximately 400,000 population

Did you mention the abundance of pan handlers? Their actions pollute Spring Garden Road. With the onslaught of panhandlers, drug users and a few tent cities, Halifax has lost any charm it once had. Our provincial government is focused more on housing immigrants with subsidized housing than it is with finding affordable housing for locals since rents have recently skyrocketed. Persons from half way around the world are housed while locals are sleeping in tents year round. Something stinks.

To be honest Halifax is growing too quickly with over forty thousand new residents in the last two years It's narrow downtown streets are crowded with cars instead of bicycles and there are very few dedicated bus lanes and parking . The nightlife in the bars is awesome though its a drag that the Nimbys shut down the last two strip clubs in the city . City council is advertising free tents and support for homeless so they are flooding into the city making their own rules . The homeless are ruining the city because nobody wants to shop down there when the place smells like pee . The parks and historical sites are great and so is the boating and sailing with all the littles coves and fresh water lakes . City is about a five out of ten .

Sadly most cities have problems like you mentioned. Halifax is growing and some see the net benefits as greater than the negatives.
