Good decision (as always) to land and resolve the issue (an issue that is not at all unusual with Piper doors). Suggestion: your camera is in a great position to identify this problem (as this video clearly shows)... so as a runup checklist item, use the app on your phone to preview the camera to assure the door is closed (seems that might work better than the touch test). Thx for the video. Wayne
That’s a really good idea! I always forget that you can view the camera from the GoPro app.
Thank you for sharing your learning experience! Did you notice louder engine sounds due to the open door? Also, I noticed you have a shoulder harness but your passenger doesn’t
So I was actually the passenger on this trip. In much of the unseen footage taken during taxi I was having to to dispense corrective action on the fruit of my loins in the the seat behind me. I ended up forgetting the shoulder harnesses because of this. I don’t believe any of us realized the extra noise.
Your wife be like uhhh so u have a lisence.. why are there so many problems loved ir
Haha yeah she’s a nervous flyer so she’s not a big fan of when I make mistakes. I forgot to close a window one tim in a Cessna 152 and I still haven’t heard the end of that.
Ricks Boathouse right off the field has some amazing food! Good times!
@@HoosierPilot You guys should definitely take a trip back when they get their pre-pandemic menus back!
For sure. Things seem to be loosening up. Hopefully so we’ll be able to get the full experience again.
These videos are are awesome. Getting better everytime.
Hey thanks man I really appreciate it. I’m brand new to editing videos, but I’ll have to admit it’s a really enjoyable hobby.
@@HoosierPilot its really cool you took this path too. It fits and you got the level head for it. Except that night our fourwheeler blew a fuse infront of that old house at dads
@@danielbailey8889 hahaha that was a good time! I miss the good old days of back woods Shenanigans.
She didn't look "too" nervous, getting better!!
She was actually pretty good the whole flight, except when she found out the door wasn’t secure. Until I showed her the video she swore up and down we had to declare an emergency because of the door.
@@HoosierPilot
In a way these a good things, she will realize that the plane still flies!!
@@Parr4theCourse oh I agree. I want to pull power on her sometime so she sees that the plane won’t just fall out of the sky.
@@HoosierPilot
Do it at high altitude and show her how far it will glide....
@@Parr4theCourse good idea. We also live in the Midwest where there are corn fields and county roads as far as the eyes can see.
Don't mean to be picky... you forgot your shoulder belt (a big incremental safety benefit), which should be a separate checklist item from the seat belt itself.
I happen to notice this particular item... 'cause I've also forgotten the shoulder belt (in a friend's C182).
@@GeezerGeekPilot I usually fly a C152 and I am really bad about wearing it in that plane. I think because you’re already really cramped in there.
Why not attempt to close the door before returning to airport then return, if not successful?
Awesome video. Do you get cpl after completing 200 hours?
You have to have 250 hours and meet certain training requirements before passing a check ride.
Door not closed
