The 2 button and close button plates have been swapped. The close button will take you to 2 when you enter the code at the keypad, while the 2 button will close the doors. :P
A placebo button requires the doors to close fast enough for the person to think they had an effect on the doors, or for the doors to probably be already closing when the person pushes the button. Otherwise, you realise it's a placebo button.
