  • So it’s been a few months since we’ve had a Rubicon in stock so I was pretty excited to get outside and do a video on this machine. This is the 2022 Honda Rubicon, Dual Clutch Transmission, Independent Suspension, Electronic Power Steering Deluxe model. Try saying that 5 times fast!
    This ATV is a total brute. Everything you could possibly want all in one package. It was the low end torque you need for work, the independent suspension for trail riding, power steering for easy turning and comfortable riding, moderate storage……and well….see for yourself!
    I personally am a big fan of the Rubicon. I think if you’re looking for a VERY capable utility ATV, you should seriously consider this one. As they say, you can’t shake a stick at it!
    Here’s the lowdown:
    Engine: 518cc Fuel injected, liquid cooled, single cylinder
    Drivetrain:
    Clutch - Automatic
    Transmission - 5 Speed manual with reverse
    Driveline - Direct front and rear driveshafts with Traxlock and locking front differential
    Chassis / Suspension / Brakes
    Front suspension - Independent double wishbone 7.28 Inches of travel
    Rear suspension - Independent dual-a-arm 8.46 Inches of travl
    Front Brakes - 190mm Hydraulic Disc
    Rear Brakes - 170mm Hydraulic Disc
    Front Tires 25x8-12
    Rear Tires 25x10-12
    Dimensions:
    Length 84.5 Inches
    Width 47.4 Inches
    Height 48.6 Inches
    Wheelbase 51 Inches
    Seat Height 35.8 Inches
    Ground Clearance 9.4 Inches
    Curb Weight 700lbs.
    Fuel Capacity 3.9 Gallons including 1.3 Gallon reserve
    Towing Capacity 1,322lbs.
    Front Rack Capacity 99lbs.
    Rear Rack Capacity 187lbs.

    This would be the first brand new four-wheeler I've ever had. I've never owned a four-wheeler I've always had three wheelers when I was a kid because they didn't make a four-wheeler back then LOL

    Ok so I just scored the same thing bout a week ago 👍 and to all those who ask? Oh hell yeah it’s worth it 😎 for most of us this is bad ass fun work truck. OMG this will go through some water no shiz, the power steering and automatic transmission makes nice . 4x4 beastie with plenty of power yeah man yet so easy to operate I had wife smiling ear to ear when she took over. The low is strong 💪 . So of ur thinking of it ? I’m nobody but I’m having fun.

    That thing is my dream atv right now....been salivating over videos for 2 weeks now....i know i dont need one...because ill end up barely using it like my new 95 polaris magum 425 years ago...sold it to my dad in 2012 with 800km!!! But i just am obsessing over the 2024 rubicon deluxe.... maybe even the 2023 in blue like this one...its really nice too...i dont care for top speeds ...its an atv...not really built for that imo...you can always get a can am if thats what you really want!! Bur i think the Honda reliability and transmission and resale value is well worth picking a Honda...plus ive had my speed demon years with snowmobiles and a few Ninja models. And luckily never had any accidents at all!! few speeding tickets and stopped after i got the new insurance bills!!!

    A very good review. I guess you have to absolutely love Honda to buy a machine that looks like it is from a few decades ago. Honda needs a serious update in my opinion. Ground clearance is not good at all, rack weight, lights, overall appearance, tires look bald out of the box. Honda….make a 2 up limited with larger more aggressive tires and a 2 inch rear hitch receiver would be good. Also, I recommend an engine upgrade to 750 or 850.

    I have asked this question a few times on other channels. No one has really addressed it. At what coolant temp does the cooling fan kick in? How noisy is it? Is the heat ducted away from your legs?
    Thanks & Cheers from Louisiana.

    • @backspace4093
      @backspace4093 Před rokem

      Think it’s around 180 kicks off at 170. No heat what so ever on your legs. I’ve rode in over 100 degree heat. Only thing that got hot was me. Mines a 2015 dct psi. I have close to 7000 miles on mine. Just regular oil changes a battery and a set of tires. Still runs and looks like new. But Honda needs to up the power. Other than the lack of power they are a very reliable machine.

    How responsive is the DCT version compared to a foot shift when getting on and off the throttle ? I suspect a bit less as on the foot shift the clutch is fully engaged ??

    • @benattwiggcycles
      @benattwiggcycles  Před 2 lety

      The DCT is very responsive. When you have the machine in manual mode, obviously you can shift and select what gear and RPM you want to run just like a foot shift. The when you have the DCT in automatic mode, it shifts based off of RPM. The higher your RPM, it'll shift into a higher gear accordingly. Likewise when slowing down, it'll down shift for you.

    • @benattwiggcycles
      @benattwiggcycles  Před 2 lety

      Hello Edwin! So on the DCT models you can definitely tell the machine is shifting thru gears, rather than a CVT basically having one continuous gear (essentially). Although the DCT does shift VERY smoothly (smoother than they ever have in the past), again you can still tell it's shifting thru gears.

    Did he say 30 horsepower he was joking right 🤔 this thing cost over 10 grand and it only has 30 horsepower 🤣🤣🤣 , so you can buy a $6,000 CFMOTO 600 with 45 hp that does 60 MPH and blow the doors off this thing 🤣🤣🤣 are you kidding me , now I know why I never see these on the trails

    • @benattwiggcycles
      @benattwiggcycles  Před 2 lety +1

      You are correct. Horsepower on a true utility machine (when used for utility purposes) is rather unnecessary. If you're looking for a true utility ATV, then TORQUE is what you want. Think about it, you're pulling bails of hay, trailers, hauling sprayers, etc. You need that low-end torque.
      Now, HORSEPOWER is where the fun is at! That's why we sell WAY more Polaris machines than any other vehicle. Because then you still get the usable utility aspect of a utility ATV, PLUS the horsepower. In my opinion, Polaris has a great thing going. They stick with the motto "WORK & PLAY". Honda is more about WORK and RELIABILITY.
      Whatever you do, stay away from CF MOTO. I worked at a place that sold that for a short time.....what a money pit nightmare. YIIKES. I have nothing good to say about CF MOTO, unfortunately.

      I have a 2005 Rancher 350 ES with just under 3000 miles and 800 hours and the transmission is smooth and shifts great. Hell the 1st major repair was the Starter which I did this week. Honda ATV’s are built for work and to run for a few decades.
