  • Nothing is more important than leaving the world in a better place than we found it for our children, grandchildren, and all future generations. This is why Wales introduced the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
Since it was passed in 2015, the Act has helped to make sure the decisions taken today, create a better tomorrow. In seven short years, the Act has:
    - Created the World’s first independent Future Generations Commissioner
    - Demanded long-term solutions to some of our biggest challenges
    - Encouraged public services collaborate and involve people in decisions that improve our social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being.
There are many examples of where the Well-being of Future Generations Act is changing policy and leading to positive changes on the ground.
And there are many people and organisations, from cross-sector and across Wales who are part of this movement. Like you.
At this important milestone at the end of first Commissioner’s term of Office, we are pausing to reflect and recognise. To recognise the achievements of many, who are bringing about change in their organisation, community, business or school; and we’re reflecting on what next.
Wales is showing the rest of the World what can be achieved. And we’ve only just begun.
