This review was just what I needed. I was literally thinking about getting this board!
Great video. Cool tricks. Great review. I got the 2022 custom and am loving it. The carving and edge hold in all conditions is absolutely incredible.
I'm 54 years old and got back into snowboarding 3 years ago after a 10-12 year layoff. Dusted off my 2000 Custom and ride it like I was 26 again. It's fast and carves like a dream (east coast). I see all the new boards and shapes (different noses in particular) and wonder if I should upgrade but it's hard to imagine anything that rides as nice as my 2000.
Your bindings and boots bring great upgrade if they're from 2000 too. But the board itself is in principle still solid. I mean if you know how to master full camber it just doesn't get any better from that.
Congrats! Working with Burton is a big deal. Happy to see another kid from the springs killin it!

Custom is like a high end dirt bike no matter how much you give it’s got more ! SR / ME - White Heat , clocked 62mph on a Custom 158 didn’t feel too much chatter and it held the edge , honestly felt like I was flying on that thing- I’ve retired it as a full timer , and only use for the knarly days on the east
I thinks it’s an 2011 , definitely a stiffy , I just may have to upgrade after watching this !
Check out the straight chuter... it's the custom but turned up and kills on the east coast

My 1st board is the Burton custom, I believe it’s fine in the power for me, I was just at snowbird, plenty of fresh powder and had no issues with it. Love this board and don’t think I’ll need another.
My warpig had a similiar color base and its so satisfying how they almost underglow on the snow.

Just picked up a Burton Fish 3D. can't wait to ride. PNW finally getting some snow right now. supposed to get 2ft over the next few days with another storm following shortly after. hopefully this snow trend sticks for a while.
I have watched you on many other boards, and your tricks look so much better on the Burton Custom. The smoothest I have seen you riding.

The Burton Custom is a great board, their Family Tree line of boards are nice too. Great edge control even in hard packed or icy conditions.

For everything all mountain (except the park) do you like the Custom or hometown hero ?
@@greghum4754the custom is very good in the park but if that’s not what you do, I think the hometown hero might be better, especially if you’re into free riding or ungroomed runs, then the hometown hero can’t be topped.

Usually I ride 156-158 but could get a great deal on a 154W (me 5‘11 175 size 9) would the shorter wider custom fit with that shifted volume?

I ride a rome sds rocker. Love the board for all mountain. Manly got it for butter trick. Because I love rocker for butters.
I always wondered what year my back up/bring friend with board was.. 2008 custom in the white. Just got the 23 custom this past weekend. Tht pink red underglow and top sheet is like a work of art imo. Watchin jb ride it so much had me salivating for it. Can't wait to compare to the old one along with me capita merc.

It can butter but it is a still snowboard. Not really meant for buttering but you can do it

I stick with my old board, an old smelly tuna board with bruce lee on it, works a treat for all mountain and park. Might consider a powder or a carving dedicated board but I want something as cool as that smelly tuna if I'm gonna buy something.

I have a 2008 Custom X... I've been on it A LOT... This past week I decided to rent a random board to compare... maybe a random rental in 2024 is better than a 2008 Custom X...
Yeah, no... lol, it's not even close. A top of the line board from over 10 years ago is still superior than any random $300 board you can rent today.

If you want the best all mountain board, get a Lib Tech with Magne Traction. The serraded edges allows you to rip on everything from ice to feet of pow and everything in between.

@@fudhater8592 well they don’t but it makes it an all mountain board and handles everything. I had a skunk ape and loved it I shoulda kept it. But my capita BSOD is money so I can’t complain. Most people aren’t lucky to ride POW ever let alone daily so the Magna traction is good for hard pack or man made shit.

Yes
For a first timer I’d maybe not suggest a stiff camber board. I learned on a stiff camber board and they are not forgiving at all but that was all that existed then. I’ve switched to a medium flex camber/rocker/camber (GNU riders Choice) and I find it much easier to ride all day and more forgiving. If I was learning today I wouldn’t go stiff full camber unless maybe you live in a area that’s only ice where you need that added edge hold but even then maybe a flat profile still may be better. Good experienced riders can make any board look easy to ride, us beginner to intermediate will see less falls with a more forgiving board, just my intermediate level opinion. That power and pop sure is fun though once you can use it but there’s probably better options in Burtons line (if your set on Burton) that will get you up and boarding sooner than full cambered custom.

Ah man, I ain't no one to judge. Just some guy that wants to be helpful. I'm of the mindset now that "just because i can doesnt mean i should." I was trying all kinds of sh*t, that i could eventually do, buuut my mechanics were all wrong. Myself and most people i know have developed pretty decent skill at doing things the wrong way. I can see it when I watch videos. And now it's really all I think about, haha!
I'm fat and outta shape, dealing with old neglected injuries. Working on it all from the very baseline of my ability. If I can perfect my mechanics carrying extra weight now, when I'm healed and thinned out, the sky's the limit. But I digress, I'm a bit obsessed and could go on for hours. 😄
And yessir, C-dub has got his body game on lock fer shurrr. His vibe is special and his love of movement is visible. I can imagine surfing adds a whole new dynamic to the improvement of balance. Big fan.

@@treblemix_ the nitro team is cheaper for one, the side cut let’s you lay down a trench but is also good for tight set up turns when approaching a feature, and IMO the NITRO has more pop in the park especially off the bigger features.
