We met up with Mitski about an hour before she was set to go on stage at FORM Arcosanti so we couldn't go too far but needed to find some peace and quiet from the pool party. She suggested a nature trail she explored earlier that snaked along the bends of a desert creek, which sounded ideal.
Once we were settled along the trail, she performed "I Will" off her latest album, “Bury Me at Makeout Creek.” She explained that the “I” in the song wasn’t her, she was the “you.” Its a song that says all the things she wants to hear from a lover.

whenever mitski sings live, you can see and hear how genuine her experiences and feelings are. I started truly appreciating her music when I heard her sing live. Every word carries so much meaning and her voice expresses it so efficiently and uniquely, the effect of it feels as though she's running a simulation of her own self directly into my head. She is the musical brilliance of our time, in my opinion.
I am literally crying. Mitski deserves this type of love so much.
