That purely player’s obsession with normal summoning ogre is wild
I can understand using E-Tele to set it up as a disruption from deck, but it works from hand so the only reason to Normal it should be to use it as a tuner or something.
The play you described with SP/Ogre to get rid of skill drain was super valuable good to learn

Because it was at 1 and no one played it. Also Traps were super unpopular at that time. Also besides True Draco almost no deck could play it. This was before Dogmatika, before Runick and before Horus.
really shows your deck list can be horrible but if you can stick skill drain on the board it doesn't matter.
Honestly the purrely player should have recognized the main threat is skill drain and play around only that 😂

It was at 1 for the longest time then konami put it to 3 same time as imperial order got banned because no fun allowed

Out of every floodgate I think skill drain is the most fair. It literally turns the game into OG Yugioh and honestly it’s the lesser of evils
i think imperial order is more fair , monsters are the main focus of the game and can be used to out every type of card while most spells (in the main) can’t out backrow type cards
It's fair as long as your monsters are big and theirs isn't.
Too many decks require Spells for setup/consistency to make one more fair than the other. And those times when both got flipped up in rapid succession were among the dumbest(and one of the many contribution factors to Bo3s just being Bo1s with extra steps).
