- Hello, this is my first piano video I am uploading on this channel, but sadly it is from my very last concert at my school, since I am in 12th grade and graduating this year.
I played one of the most famous, if not the most famous, anime intro "A Cruel Angel's Thesis" from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Good shit man, I'm learning this arrangement as well rn and I can easily see why you rushed the tempo. Even without an audience and pressure like that, it's really difficult to play it with the potency and weight of Animenz's performance. I've been playing piano for 6 years now and this is the hardest piece I've picked up and this video has reassured me that all it takes to play this piece is to be insane and not superhuman. Appreciate that lol
Right? For me personally I think its because I don't fully understand the rhythm since in certain parts its pretty complex annnd I only played classical music before performing this piece

You didn’t notice the notes were mashed up two times along with muddy note clarity much of piece? The original has plenty of flair but plays cleanly. This example tries to much added fancy note play that normally isn’t there. Part of issue is with the piano in the deep end though. Id recommend you go watch other performances, many are on youtube. This is the first time in months Ive a piano performance clash so much with fancy note play.

Very clean performance! Tbh I haven't heard this arrangement yet but I can't point out a single obvious mistake which is really impressive. Also nice pedaling and dynamic contrast

You're right. Its always crazy to have an op/ost/etc. that is already insane in itself then played by a pianist that is also insanely talented. Creates something really special and I think we are super lucky to be able to experience that

Good job bro! I played a cut version of this on our graduation day a few weeks ago but it wasn’t very successful. Audiences started clapping to the song really quickly at around 0:47 of this video and it threw me off tempo by a lot (to put into perspective, at that point I was playing at around 1.5x speed of this) and as a result I made a couple of I thought pretty noticeable mistakes 😭 either ways, hats off to you on your end for delivering the piece from start to end despite a few mistakes made (which I could definitely relate with, especially under those circumstances)👏 Keep it up! 👍

Thank you so much though and tbh I don't think a lot of people will notice the mistakes if they don't know the piece. Ive had people tell me that I played it perfectly even though there were (to me) some obvious mistakes. Good luck with your future pieces doe!

I completely emphatize the you must have felt while performing this piece live at a larger audience. I would say you did a very nice performance, did minor pauses betweeen parts but that way avoided you major mistakes. I felt overall u did an amazing job, its a whole new lvl to play this hard pieces on a live performance for sure!
