    Really like the shock setup looks clean . I suck at wiring so i don't mind watching other people do it the right way 😅

    I was just about to ask about the cloth tape, until you mentioned it. 😄
    Walmart used to have a really good electrical tape in the automotive section. I used it for years and it always held up. Now I’ve had to start trying different brands online because it seems that you can’t find any tape locally that is not junk. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    That blue plug for the wiper squirter the box with the oil pump I've done tons of Mazda and know every plug on em lol

      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Ok so I'll just cut the wiper wires since I'm not running that. Do you run the wires that go to radiator for the dummy light. My sensor was in pieces before so it doesn't really seem necessary.

    • @mattodombigoscustoms9957
      @mattodombigoscustoms9957 Před 7 měsíci

      I just used the gauge those wires to bottom actually not for a dummy light they are to the smog stuff to the factory carb if ur talking bout the one in the radiator

      I just seen ur message if ur not sure on anything I've had the dashes out of a ton of these trucks and swapped harnesses and built a lot from scratch so I don't care to help a fellow mini trucker out at all buddy

    Tesa still gets gooey. I've been using it for the last several years, and loved it at first. It looks nice but if you ever have to go back in to a harness, it's a mess. Resonix Sound Solutions has a similar product that isn't supposed to do that, but I haven't tried it yet.

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 8 měsíci

      Ive had it in my caprice for a few years now and I would say it does leave a residue, but I don't think that it's anywhere close to what a 3m or equivalent electrical tape does. it doesn't get hard as a rock and brittle like those tapes do when it's cold outside. I'll look into the resonix stuff and try it out. Thanks !

    Unless you are running some extra things through the passenger wire loom, you only need the wiper wires. All the other factory wiring on the passenger side that come through the firewall are for the factory carburetor.
    As for what you are missing is ground, alternator, starter and transmission wiring that start at that fuse box you are putting outside where the stock battery location is.

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yep the pass side is already stripped down to only the wiper motor. The other wires I'm running to that side are the plugs that connect to the engine, such as the trans starter and alternator and oil pressure. I was originally going to spilt the harness inside the cab but decided against it. After looking over the harness without the loom I didn't want to cut the entire harness up and have to make new grounds and what not to make it work . The way I did I I extended 7 wires for those engine plugs then the power wire for the fuse block rather then laying under the dash and routing the wires that way. If I had time to pull the dash out I would do it that way but I'd like to eventually drive this thing it's already taken way to long. Thanks for the info !

      @@Virginiaisforlowriders You know I was just telling my son (he and I are building a Mazda) about this and thought maybe run those wires straight down to the transmission and then forward from there.

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah, I have an oval shaped hole already in the firewall next to the area where the a/c line would pass through that I'll be using . It's a little further over then I'd like, but I'd rather not fill the hole just to drill a new hole 4 inches away from it.

      Yeah you could there's plenty of room with the stock trans

    I like the cleanliness of the braided wire loom but have had a bad experience with it. I am an aircraft mechanic/ aircraft electrician and I have had to use that type of loom. The stuff I have used though tends to degrade over time and crumble. Maybe our supplier is using cheap material but that is my professional experiences.

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 8 měsíci

      I'd say whatever you get from the supplier has to be better then what I'm getting off Amazon lol. I'm running the non split stuff in my other cars . I haven't had a bad experience yet but I will keep an eye on it thank you for the heads up .

    I don't envy wiring. I just had to do surgery on my 1995 Dakota Sport 2.5l. It's all fixed, and now I have to rewrap, loom, and mount it all. It's just time-consuming..

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 6 měsíci

      Very very time consuming I tackle it in little bits . I'm still not finished with it and I started cutting it up months ago lol

      @Virginiaisforlowriders I'm lucky mine is a daily with static drop, so I didn't tuck any. Yours is so clean, though. I haven't tucked one in years, but if I find the Datsun project I want, it will get the works.

    The only thing so far that i question other than the headlights why run the wires around the front of the truck when it could have been under the dash and came out the passenger side but still great build i think that this is a very detailed build and has taken a long time i have learnd a lot from this series

    • @Virginiaisforlowriders
      @Virginiaisforlowriders  Před 8 měsíci +1

      What's your headlight question. That was my original idea was to split the harness and run the pass side portion behind the dash . But after I stripped the harness back and figured out what all was tied into that portion of the harness, I decided against it. As it sits right now, the factory harness hasn't been cut into and spliced except for the sensors on the engine That I ran along the pass fender. Perfect scenario I would have pulled the dash and really cut into the harness, but with this way I only cut into and extended 7 wires in total. It's definitely taken way longer then I wanted it to and I've done this exactly process on another truck and I knocked it out in 3 months. The largest thing for me is getting used to the camera stuff, and I am getting better with cutting out the fat as far as recording and managing the time for that. Before I would record pretty much everything and cut out what I didn't think was necessary. Slowing figuring out how to just record what I think I'll need later. Thank you for keeping up with the build.
