  • Hello everyone! Ever since I posted my last "one year singing progress" video lat year, I have gotten sooo many comments asking how I was able to improve my singing and if I went to any vocal coaches. Well, here is how I improved my singing for free with no vocal coaches! I really hope it is somewhat helpful! Thank you all for the support and encouraging me to keep singing, it means the world! :)

    • @Hope-si1kb
      @Hope-si1kb Před 4 lety +355

Your voice is probably breaking because you are singing out of your range. That and you probably aren't doing vocal warm ups or drinking enough water. I suggest finding a CZcams video that helps you find your vocal range. And if you end up having a small range, it's okay because you can grow your range to grow higher. It takes time, but you can. I suggest Jacob's vocal academy on CZcams. He has vocal warm up videos and videos to help extend you range

The thing is that the voice you hear in your head is not the same voice other people hear. It is because when you sing, you hear the sound waves coming from your mouth, but you ALSO hear the ones that take a shortcut THROUGH your head.
Other people only hear what's coming through your mouth. The only thing you can do about it is to record yourself and listen to it often. Get to know your own voice and how it sounds outside of your head only. I hope that makes sense :)

    Tips
    1) do warm up everyday (u just hv to force urself until it becomes a habit)
    2) pick one song and sing after a month to check progress
    3) vocal care is very important
    4) be comfortable with ur voice (Ik it's hard but u just gotto do it. Not everyone in this world is
deaf. Naked truth: if you wanna improve u hv to step out of your comfort zone)
    5) do more research on singing vocab so u understand what ppl are talking abt
    6) try different technique and don't try to sing like ur fav singer cause ur not them ( sing for urself)
    7) Just work hard, there's no easy fix to this you just have to work hard even on days u feel like you don't want to. You just gotto do it.
    8) don't hard on urself. Be patience. Remember singing is a skill u have to learn not something ue born with.
Knowing how to properly breath will help you with sing better. and have a lot of other advantages

It’s that “I’m” in I’m so into you, into you, into you.
You are not hitting the right note on the “I’m” it might feel to high. So instead your are trying a lower note but that is making you change keys, as the note your trying is not in the key of the song.
      You simply cannot do that.
If the highest note is too high bring the whole song down in key. Try the song in a lower key.
Changing key randomly in a song is bad and a complete no no! just stop that!!

I think the reason why she went off key is because shes playing the song in her head and I think shes trying to follow the key in her head, but when she reaches the "I'm so into you" part she realizes that ariana grande goes higher than the notes she sings before hand.. so she switched the key to make it less so that she wont have to strain to sing that part so high

This video is so fully of honesty and the best one I've come across. Just like you I've also have done the research and made the similar conclusions. Practice singing, when you practice singing the songs you like, each time you sing along with your favorite song, you'll notice slight difference in each verse/chorus. Improve on those, try to sing exactly like the singer provided you have a similar voice and your voice goes with that kind of style (Don't force yourself, bad for vocal cords).
Practising is the key. Exercises/Warm ups are so very important. Just like an athlete warm ups his muscle before his session, a singer must warm up his/her vocal cords before singing. Lip rolls, trills are good.

I appreciate you posting this. I’ve taken almost identical path as you have, in self teaching myself on how to sing properly (endless videos, Spotify playlists of warmups & excercises - Jacobs Academy etc., mobile apps - apps that track pitch have been vital & then the actual recording & listening of my voice to familiarize & discover my tone & the strengths & weaknesses, also vids of myself singing to spot any tension or other red flags). The hardest part is the uncertainty that comes as a result of being self-taught, & the insecurity of wether I’ve interpreted or applied info & principles correct, even in the face of what I perceive has been progress & success. There’s always a looming wonder if im achieving it in the right or healthy manner.
So, to not only hear the story of progress from an individual whose methods & ideals in learning the new skill, are similar to my own, but also getting to hear the progression first hand & seeing the visible proof, has given me a great deal of comfort, knowing there’s someone out there learning the same way I’m doing it, and it’s worked. And so maybe it’s ok, to feel ok, about what I felt I’ve improved on myself. So Ty again!

I love your determination and how you took things into your own hands through experimenting and research. All the information you provided is applicable and so true, however, if I may point out something out of personal experience, I do believe that at some point, there has to be some sort of guidance, and doesn't have to be long term, since you're already aware of so many aspects of singing, but it's always important to have a vocal coach to guide you and push you forward, someone who will use their knowledge and expertise to help you unleash your full potential, and some aspects that you might not discover on your own. You have a beautiful voice, keep going, and concerning your pitch, there are some exercises you could do to train your musical ear that would help a lot. Good luck!

You're such a sweet heart and you're real. Spent over 10 hours watching these kind of videos and they all seem cliché to me and now I'm getting ready to crash and here comes you the person I've been looking for... Your voice is beautiful. You can be a star from here on. Thanks for your advice i will use them first thing when i wake up

"Breathing and support is the back bone of singing" TOTALLY AGREE!! I did study singing in college and that's a major point my teacher kept telling us. BREATHING IS KEY!!

Thank you so much! This has motivated me so much! I really got kind of disappointed cause I got to a point where I thought I cannot improve without taking lessons and you have really shown me now that if I do it correctly I can do it myself. That's so cool, thank you!

Great video! I'm also trying to improve my singing by myself. It's wonderful to find someone on the same journey as me.

you have really good tone! i would suggest that you look up how to use head voice and how to switch into head voice to avoid breathiness on higher notes. i bet in you head voice you can go so much higher than you think you can. also when you warm up use solfege. if you have a piano play middle C as do and keep going until your voice starts cracking even if it sounds bad and do the same for your lower range and go down from middle C until all you can do is fry. this will tremendously expand your range. you have natural talent! keep working at it!

You are my inspiration when it comes to singing. You improved so much by your own hard work. I love music. To me, singing is something so beautiful and natural, yet I can't do it. I was not born talented, and even though almost every vocal coach says that anyone can learn to sing, I still didn't quite believe in myself. You gave me new hope and courage to start practising at home. Thank you.

Singing is not a talent its a skill whoch if you give time, commitment and you have the right information about it you can get good at it. Singing is like a course that you took when you where in college. You give time, commitment and you have the right information to learn it.
