I was definitely irked by the Gus stuff, it was very off-brand for Ross. 99% of the time the pranks are harmless and silly, and usually the 1% ends up having a good resolution anyway. But this one came off as Just being a jerk for the sake of it. Maybe there's additional context we're missing, but from this angle it soured an otherwise excellent video for me.
I feel not many people understand the Phat Gus reference. Phat Gus is one of the squirrels in Mark Robers video. Ross was clearly making this into a parody video of Mark's video. He even filmed and narrated it very similarly. So, while I agree it was a bit much, seeing that this is a person who might veey well take the jabbing the wrong way, i dont think Ross did it with ill intent. I think he was just trying to reference and parody phat gus. Yes, his joke clearly missed the mark, but I get what he was trying to do

They just act like some of the contestants like “gus” weren’t aware they were being made fun of but in reality they gave him a briefing of what was going to happen during the commentary of the filming. So he understood being made fun of was only to add comedic value to the video

I was definitely irked by the Gus stuff, it was very off-brand for Ross. 99% of the time the pranks are harmless and silly, and usually the 1% ends up having a good resolution anyway. But this one came off as Just being a jerk for the sake of it. Maybe there's additional context we're missing, but from this angle it soured an otherwise excellent video for me.

I feel not many people understand the Phat Gus reference. Phat Gus is one of the squirrels in Mark Robers video. Ross was clearly making this into a parody video of Mark's video. He even filmed and narrated it very similarly.
So, while I agree it was a bit much, seeing that this is a person who might veey well take the jabbing the wrong way, i dont think Ross did it with ill intent. I think he was just trying to reference and parody phat gus. Yes, his joke clearly missed the mark, but I get what he was trying to do
Even if it is a parody, the continuous making fun of Gus is just plain mean. Imagine how you would feel if you found this video. It could've been just an opportunity to make someone's sometimes mundane job a little different, but the incessant making fun of Gus's weight is uncool.
