- Stewart Island is one of New Zealand's most untouched pieces of paradise. It hosts the only wild population of Whitetail Deer in the southern hemisphere (besides a few on the mainland) and is home to some epic diving locations with crystal clear waters teeming with marine life. Chris, Raddy and Mitch were lucky enough to find their way down south for 10 days of hunting, diving and all round good times. Watch along as we explore into the breathtaking and sometimes disorientating Stewart Island bush as well as the depths of its bountiful coastlines. We get amongst plenty of action and stumble upon a range of native wildlife you just wouldn't find elsewhere. If you enjoy the video and want more make sure to hit those like and subscribe buttons, cheers ya bloody legends!

Awesome video and thumbs up.
Hi guys , part two : move through bush at about one meter a minute and slowly look behind you, the deer will be following you on your sent trail . Take your time raising your rifle any movement will bust you. Keep your rifle scope on low power . Stay out of the sunlight in the bush. Check the beach or clearing around camp at first light before moving and talking around camp, coffee will still be there afterwards. Keep your noise down around camp, Dawn and dusk will pay dividends. They eat the seaweed so keep an eye out around the rocks at the end of the beaches. They are called the grey ghost for a reason look carefully. 40% of the whitetail I have shot have been less than 15 meters away. All the best guys hope this helps . Cheers
Sounds like you've got it sorted down there! Cheers for the advice mate, definitely learned alot from our first trip down. Glad you enjoyed the vid mate, thanks for the comment :)
Great advice. Got my first ever hunt in Stewart Island coming up in 3 weeks time.
Hi guys AWSOME trip thanks brought back some great memories . Lived on Stewart Island for five years about twenty years ago. They are fun deer to hunt , very inquisitive. Some pointers that may help, make sure all of your gear is serviced ie: motor hunt in your dive boots as you can feel what’s under your feet. Most of the deer live within 500m from the of the beach or river
Your vids are next level awesome. So great to watch.
Awsumness guys!!! Bring on part 2 😎
Epic little mish boys. Mean as
Great place and great video. cant wait for part 2. Thanks guys
Cheers mate, shouldn't be too far off!

Epic so far boys. Elusive little buggers aren’t they 🤪🤪 Brings back so many memories. Looking forward to part two.
Can see how they got the nickname grey ghosts!
Went there in 1982 for 4 days. Never ate so well on a camping trip. Diving for scallops and blue cod, mussels at low tide, shot one whitetail. I was surprized at how much smaller they were than deer in the Nebraska U S.
Great going guys enjoy it
That rowing montage was fricken hilarious 😂 way to make light of a dud situation 🤣

Comment purely for the algorithm, to get you on that big CZcams main screen so all the little budding Jack's and Hillary's can find this video and say "Shit oh dear, this is sensational viewing."
Fantastic video boys both of them. I somehow just found your channel yesterday and now I've got a fair old lot to get through but I will. Cheers and keep it up.

Cheers mate!
Great video, that outboard would frustrate the hell out of me
Cheers John! Yeah.. It got old after about a day haha.
awesome one guys! love that place! I shot my first whitetail (a small buck) on the beach within 2 hours of landing on the island!.... and seen 5 others that evening too... then proceeded to see zip all for the rest of the trip 🤨 find good game trails cut some broadleaf down & hide somewhere 40yds or so away & watch it night & morning, can,t wait to see pt 2 cheers
Wicked! What a way to start a trip. I saw more deer running across the road in oban than I did in the block 😂 Planning to get back on the island in February next year, doing something a bit different next time though! Cheers mate, appreciate the comment/advice!
Awesome vid boys. Got my first hunt there in 3 weeks time. Cant wait. Need all the help i can get.

Shot boys!
Maybe get the motor checked out next time b4 U go.. Che bro..😀👍
JPsikaHunter is also the best channel I think. You can enjoy hunting deers in Hokkaido in Japan
Will have to check it out mate
Rakiura looks Ataahua !!!
Tu Meke!
the old southern saying 20% of hunters get 80% of whitetail on stewart island proven here
Yeah absolutely. Tough animals to hunt in some tough country, bitter sweet when you finally get one though!
nice vid. what season was it? Good to see you not mixing booze and hunting.
Cheers mate, was mid September so early spring. Of course mate the firearms code is there for a reason, plenty of time for drinks afterwards plus it's hard enough to hunt whitetails sober 😂
Shot fullas
What map app are you guys using?
Hey mate we use nz topo50, bloody handy little app!
does anybody know if there's cell phone coverage anywhere in that block ?
