Today I am going to show you how to get rid of unnecessary Windows 11 features that Microsoft bloated us with with the release of their all new operating system. You can make it usable and customizable with the help of a few patches and registry knowledge. Windows 11 is a burden, Microsoft consistently tries to kill Windows as a family of products.
Command to open the secret control window: explorer.exe shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}
Please note that the shell control applet was removed in latest (as of October, 2023) Windows 11 builds. It might not work on your side, and that's why.

I'd actually recommend StartAllBack over Start11. It brings dark mode to a lot of places on top of providing a hybrid Windows 11/10 taskbar that is the best of both worlds.
I would recommend ExplorerPatcher instead of that as it's free and open source
yes, there is a real windows 10 start menu, but it has a kinda bugs, like in other languages some places aren't translated
@@mishaproduction I'm personally using both - ExplorerPatcher and Start11. They work great together, patcher for the taskbar, start11 for the start menu.
startallback doesnt have win10 start menu sadly
Explorerpatcher alpha builds have win10 start menu now, using the centered win10 start menu and the centered icons for a win10.5 feel
8:44 Interesting that the old Windows 7 UI is still embedded within Windows, since you can see it for a bit when dwm is terminated.
I wonder if they'll ever do an "NT 2", since Windows as it is, it's practically 4-5 layers of old OSes stacked haphazardly on top of each other, it really needs a refresh.
"7" You mean Vista?
That's the Windows Vista UI so its even older than you think
@@CloudProminence Vista was the last real upgrade for Windows
Windows 11 has Windows 10, vista basic and classic themes under its UI.
I dont get why they removed the option to change to the basic theme, it gave us choice and tbh the windows 10/11 design these days look more basic than the win aero basic and looks better imo

I think it's a shame that Microsoft didn't use the opportunity of making a new version of their OS to completely redo things from scratch, as opposed to just adding another layer of new UI on top the old core (which inevitably shows through if try hard enough.
That has been happening from Windows Vista, even tho its not as pathetic and embarassing as nowadays
That would ruin backwards compatibility tho and would be hella expensive.

I don't call Windows 11 a scam for nothing :)
The thing is that its a skin, so you can just bypass those restrictions lol. Except for certain like the 64-bit one.
Absolutely agree with you about the 2-step context menus (UWP to Legacy). It's just baffling that MS haven't figured out how to update Legacy context menu's design to match Windows 11 or move/link all of the Legacy contex menu items (including 3rd party ones) to the new UWP context menu.
And Explorer's Ribbon, too. Probably one of the only features introduced in Windows 8, that I found absolutely useful. It has every option that explorer has, at a glance, and you can collapse it when you don't need it. So, seeing it butchered in Windows 11 wasn't great.
They should get rid of the stupid new context menu altogether. It's useless.

Same here. (I do quite like some of the designs though. Haha) But I've had zero issues with 11 since I installed it back in June of last year when the dev channel became available. 10? More issues than I can count.
Yeah I don't get the hate (obviously design choices like the start menu, context menu etc are idiotic), been trying it out since the beta leak and it's pretty smooth but the biggest thing is that I haven't had a single crash, no BSODs, nada. hi, great vid earned a sub. where do you get all this stuff? is there like a forum or something?
There's a "bug" with StartAllBack. You see, it converts the taskbar as an static hWnd to a dynamic hWnd making it possible to hide behind windows. as far as I know, uninstalling it just makes this effect worse.
We have come to an age when people "update" their systems and then try to make the "new" version look like the old one and spending like 3 hours on it instead of just not updating.
i mean, older oses will lose their support eventually causing others to switch, wont make me switch until i feel that w11 or any future windows os is worth upgrading too
Reminds me of Win7 to 8/10
great idea, there are people trying to make windows 10 like xp btw

2:07 fact: you can actually get the menu without changing the keys yourself using winaero tweaker. Its in the windows 11 menu. I mean there are changes to the registry in that case too but atleast its much safer considering you can't make a mistake while doing that.
I hate every change happened in this video. Every single change of it.
I hate that clunky ribbon Windows 8 explorer, it's too crowdy. I used to install OldFileExplorer to bring back the simplistic Win 7 explorer look back in 8, 8.1 through 10. I liked the new rounded corner window as it is reminiscent of Aero Glass era Windows, so bringing the sharp corner back is just my nemesis, thankfully you didn't bring back that horrible 8 thick border too. With more blur translucent on every UI component, it's just dream come true to me (I guess I should've just Hackintosh my PC, ~~I wish~~).
Sure, the new UI may still a downgrade UX wise compared to previous version, as you need to do extra step to everything (like context menu, accessing settings like taskbar setting, etc), but visually it's an upgrade and it's**much** better than 8 and 10 at their launch.
Rectify11 is basically what Windows 11 should've been at release.
you literally just Made windows 11, windows 10. Good job!
I wish there was a button at first setup or somewhere in the settings to change between the "tablet mode" UI changes, and mouse. Like it will ask if your input is mouse or touch, then the UI will change to have spacings or not have spacings in explorer, having a context menu or not having a context menu. and etc.
amazing video! nice work researching all the solutions :o
I have to admit the context menu now looks SUPER weird now that you mention it…I have never been a fan of its looks.

@@redcrafterlppa303 first point is half true, they did purposely make it incompatible but then ported it to 7 for any developers that asked, second point is true for consumers(that does mean i agree), third point is untrue because windows vista had an updated kernel version to provide support for the mass features it added which makes it impossible to just reskin xp, fourth point is true but because microsoft purposely included it for older programs, windows 3.1 is a graphical interface for ms-dos, making it impossible for windows 10 to just be a reskin of it in the nt kernel
@@i_love_games110 first i never said that vista is a pure reskin of xp. They changed a lot. Windows is the king of compatability. With the HELP of some programs you can still run windows 3.11 software in windows 10. Even some menues in those programs link up to modern menus. That's because until windows 10 the great goal of windows was improvement in speed and user experience while still being recognizable and easily usable for people coming from previous releases. All of this was thrown over board in windows 10/11 twice. Again I never said the kernel was copied an os is way more than its kernel its the rest of the os that expirienced reuse. Windows 11: We're built on nothing but glue and toothpicks! And maybe more glue. And toothpicks. Plus glue.
Usefull information, well done, thanks :)
Well, now that we got a fix to Win11, would you recommend upgrading the OS or keep Win10?
Also new suggestion: remove rounded buttons
Switch to Linux, you won't regret it.
@@andrupka8749 That's not the point.
Not that I can on my main machine.
I do have unbuntu on a small side server but I don't really see the appeal either
@@RustyNova alright, it's a matter of personal preference
@@RustyNova Removing rounded buttons involves using the msstyles from Windows builds 213xx
Got Windows 11 on my unsupported laptop for a while on the Windows Insider Program. Doesn’t notice any major issues, only minor ones like unable to set Explorer to open last opened tabs on startup like most web browsers and even KDE Plasma’s Dolphin file manager had for a while.
The only reason for up(down)grade is WSA (Windows Subsystem for Android).
Also, there's an easy way to make Windows 11 usable:
1. Delete Windows 11 with your favourite method.
2. Install Windows 10 21H2.
3. ????????
4. PROFIT!
8:44 Hey, a dance party in old Win7 style!
The hided song is: Dimrain47 - At the speed of light
I miss when Windows had a simple interface and wasn't filled to the brim with bloatware.
Win 7 had everything you needed. It's shit that you can't install it on NVMe.
Nice vid. I'd do everything here except two things: I don't care about rounded corners, and I think that the icons are the only upgrade Win11 has over Win10 (still not as good as the Vista/7 icons tho).
The icons are sorta good
The windows 11 winmojis (Win + . to open emoji selector) are way too oversimplified now for my liking
I agree
Hey man how you do such fascinating stuff like editing registry, like how you know the correct registry part which has to be manipulated
I love how in Dimrain47 - At the Speed of Light in the song name he wrote "you know this one, don't you"
