  • From being bullied to winning a Grammy, what does it take to follow a dream and create something new? "Dare to be creative, dare to think outside of the box, the violin box," says Miri Ben-Ari. Learn about six traits you must have when pursuing a new idea and how Miri Ben-Ari was able to transform the classical violin to a featured instrument in Hip Hop, EDM, and Afrobeats, collaborating with some of the biggest artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Aventura, Armin Van Buuren, and Diamond Platnumz.
    Miri Ben-Ari is a Grammy Winner violinist-producer, originally from Israel, who created her own unique sound: a fusion of classical, Hip Hop, and dance music, recognized as a musical pioneer. A Grammy Winner violinist/producer/humanitarian, “Goodwill Ambassador of Music” to the United Nations, originally from Israel, has created her own unique sound - a revolutionary fusion of classical, Hip Hop, and dance music. She is recognized as a musical pioneer.
    This classically trained violinist, who once studied under the late classical master Isaac Stern, Ben-Ari has helped sell millions of records by collaborating with other Grammy award-winning artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Wynton Marsalis, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Akon, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, John Legend, Aventura, Fetty Wap, Armin Van Buuren, and Diamond Platnumz. Her album "The Hip Hop Violinist"/ Universal Records features many of these collaborations. Miri Ben-Ari paved the way for future generations, she is the first (and only) violinist to win a Grammy in Hip Hop category, and the first to be featured on hits songs and music videos in Hip Hop, Latin, EDM, and Afrobeats music. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

      Miri, you're one of my idols, giving me the courage to pick up the violin at 33, after my family not allowing me as a kid. I'll never be as good as you, but I'll keep those 6 things in mind. I love your music and talent!

    Your TEDx Talk is incredible! Your talent is incredible! You are an incredible person spreading love, light, and melody to the world in an incredibly unique fashion! Yes, I know I have been very repetitious with the word incredible. However, when it fits, how can it possibly be overused? Your talk hit home with me because I have a daughter that was diagnosed at 18 mths old with 98% hearing loss. She was bullied and changed high schools in her senior year, but not before excelling in an accelerated program. Always wanting to "belong" she found herself thinking she had to prove herself as good as others. Because of this, she graduated from the University of FL and didn't stop there but went on to complete two Master's Degrees and ultimately her MBA. She became CEO/Founder, Amaze Clean with her husband, 2020 NAWBO Rising Star of the Year Winner in Charlotte NC. She expressed to me when she won the NAWBO award, she felt empty, unsure within herself how to accept the award when she felt others were more deserving. My point? She is now in her 40s and her strongest desire is to play the violin. I forwarded your talk to her for encouragement to live the life she loves and forge ahead with passion toward her dreams. Should your eyes possibly fall upon these humble words, know today you touched the lives of two people very dramatically. Possible we connect in the future?. . . anything is possible if you just believe! First and foremost, believe in yourself! Have a blessed day!

    This has been a progression over a very long time. Even bringing horn instruments into rock took some time to do. Too many to list but it seemed to enhance and enrich the modern rock scene.

    Why did she say she went to Julliard? Her wiki page says she went to The New School and studied in their music department only briefly, for the reasons she mentioned here. If she's misrepresenting herself or her education here, that's really low-class. Especially when she can obviously play, so what does she have to prove?

    • @Kadiija11
      @Kadiija11 Před 2 lety +9

      Oh, well this is awkward and awful at the same time. This is a professional musician that literally has the most unique, and amazing credentials and education in the music field and industry. that she has worked soo hard for. All her life, and you think she needs to lie about going to Julliard? LOL sheesh. you should have came here with the real intention to ACTUALLY LISTEN. that’s awful that you REALLY weren’t here to listen at all.because IF you were listening you wouldn’t have needed to waste your time on wiki looking up her early education because she was just basically stating what the “standard plan” looks like or even what the “perfect plan” would have been/should have been. NOT WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! or just stating what most ppl (ppl like YOU) think her musical upbringing was. She states within the first couple mins in the video
      “The plan was to practice, grow up, and practice some more, practice, practice and then, grow up some more and THEN get old enough to fly to New York to go to school to learn music at JULLIARD” she then goes on to SAY “THATS NOT WHAT HAPPENED”
      And HOW SHE REALLY GOT STARTED WHICH WAS AN INCIDENT on the school bus IN THE 8th grade. that made her take it play the violin serious. LMAO and here you come calling her a liar.
      Don’t ever think you caught one-of-the best of our time musicians in a lie? When she doesn’t need too. the audacity of you. For sure.
      I didn’t need to write all this yes, I know. It’s just the evidence was in the first 3 MINS OF the video. lmao and you also DIDNT need to call her “LOW-CLASS” your on a CZcams comment calling her “low-class” like ?? LMAO
