Iron Maiden - 'Ed Force One' Boeing 747 - Spectacular Takeoff at Cardiff Airport (CWL/EGFF)

This has to go down as one of the best movements for a very long time at Cardiff Airport? Iron Maiden's private Boeing 747 is seen here at Cardiff just before the rock band set off for their world tour around 36 countries on 6 continents! To make it even more special, the lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, was at the controls! Reg: TF-AAK c/;32868 Date Filmed: 19th February 2016.
This aircraft arrived at Cardiff from Sharjah (UAE) on Wednesday night after it had been repainted and modified for this unbelievable journey. This unmissable aircraft will grace our skies for at least the next 6 months as it flies the band around the world! Originally belonging to Air France, it was built in 2003 and delivered to Air Atlanta Icelandic late last year for Iron Maiden operations.
So, on Friday morning I set off to get this beautiful aircraft departing Welsh soil, & I certainly wasn't disappointed! Being parked on stand 6, you could get right up close with the aircraft and get a good picture, attracting hoards of crowds! I positioned myself on the Southside to film this beast leaving for Fort Lauderdale in Florida. I hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching! Holy crap...Bruce got his 747 rating...that is incredible. You have to have a lot of hours and experience to be cleared to fly a 747. What a talented and smart man Bruce is.
Awesome footage! Gives me chills. The coolest thing about this is knowing that Bruce is piloting the plane.
Bruce is a remarkable man...Commercial pilot, cancer survivor, and he still fronts one of the world's greatest metal bands, and jumps, runs, and screams his vocals with more energy than most dudes in their twenties....Unbelievable guy....! Saw the show in Chicago, and it was beyond awesome....!
Brad Hill Lucky you, must have been an awesome experience. Hopefully, they get back to the United States in 2019 so i can go see them for my first time. Tell me something, was the crowd participation in Chicago like the videos we see from Rock in Rio where everyone there is going nuts, but in a good way?
Add author to that list. He came out with his autobiography, "What Does This Button Do?" It's a good read. You can find it in any Barnes and Noble bookstore, or, if you are lucky, your public library.

That is one big beauty! seeing this i wonder what other metal bands would be thinking when they see iron maiden in their 60's touring the world in this high class stile, WHAT WOULD THEy BE THINKING ABOUT IT!! maiden is an example of how you should do things.

This is awesome in every level, but man do i have a fear of flying. Just seeing the plane take off gives me nightmares... but hey, the thought of Bruce Dickinson flying it should problaby calm me down :)
I was just reading about this aircraft as Bruce Dickinson is piloting the aircraft, He flies the Eclipse jet. Great video! Beautiful but huge aircraft compared to he's Eclipse!
He flew in his private jet to Dundee airport last year during the golf season!

This is the real president's jet, as Bruce Dickinson (aka. the John Denver of heavy metal) is the president of badassia, and I can't wait to see them at Donington.
And not only have I now seen Iron Maiden twice, but I also got to see Ed Force One in all of her gorgeous glory.

+ThirdDegreeWitch The fact that it's pilot is Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of Iron Maiden, flying Ed Force One, carrying all their crew and tour equipment on their private 747 for their World Tour. It's awesome for maiden fans, not much for everyone else though.
He paid 2 million for the aircraft itself, and 20 million for it to be done up nicely, one of his pilots also crashed it, due to bird strike, not sure of anything major mind 😕
Just two things. Bruce is captain on B757, not this B747...

He is a certified Boeing 747 pilot. He got his licence in 2014 or so...
There is a short documentary where he shows how he flies this plane. It's called "Ed Force One Special".
I think its kinda stupid. Was a huge fan from 86-88. Really. Saw them a few times. This doing your own plane tour and piloting as well is going overboard. I think its kinda silly. Just too much dough to be had in the far corners of the world. Chill down people.
Why? It's not a waste since the plane carries regular passengers who would be flying anyways.
