- Leaving Bishkek. We stayed in a Hostel in Bishkek, but we sleep in our camper. When we are in a city it's a great way to have access to toilets, shower, fast internet to upload the videos...
We also love to meet other travellers are share stories.
We are now ready to go to Kazakstan. We have a 30 days visa free.
We started in Almaty.
We visited the city and it was also time to service Bear.
We used the garage facilities but Leigh enjoyed doing the work himself. The owner of the garage was happy with that. :)

Leigh is very strict with that sort of stuff , services, washes, inspections... we spend so much time on garages the last 12 months or perhaps 24 months.
The university with the mountains is a beautiful site and the cathedral is amazing !! Steph is a trooper working on the slide out drawer !!
It's a spectacular city that's for sure. Although to be honest we like smaller cities with more character like Bishkek.

Had a similar situation. I just cut a rebate into a long stick about the shape of the blade, then drilled two holes though the blade, and counter sunk them. Then screwed the blade to the wood. Super long flush-cut saw.

Good idea thanks for the tip. I did drain the sediment from the bottom through the drain plug before tipping into the new filter but for sure clean diesel would be best.

Don't pour diesel from one filler to the other always use fresh clean fuel to pre-fill replacement filter
I agree. you are probably pouring dirty diesel from the outside of the old filter to the inside of the clean one. Diesel travel from the outside to the inside so the inside is the cleaned side, which then goes to the injectors if it is the secondary. There will be a priming pump somewhere, usually on top of the second filter, a large button to be pressed down, spring return. Press it many times, you may be able to hear it dribbling into the tank from the return when all air is flushed. Do not try to start motor until this is done as you will get air into the injector pump.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this. A Teflon cutting board cut to small size as a slide would make the drawer slide easier.

Oops J ai du couper au montage ... j ai sorti toute la vis au final. Mais helas cela n a rien changé au probleme. Le tiroir reste toujours tres difficile. Heureusement il n est pas d usage quotidien.

Before you spend the money on drawer slides or rollers you might just try putting some UHMW PS (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene plastic) strips either on the drawer or on the floor it slides on. You can get rolls of it in different thicknesses and widths with self adhesive backing on it. It’s amazing stuff.

Leigh Dearle you could probably put it on the sides too to reduce the friction there also.
We actually do have 2 Teflon plastic strips on the wood that it slides on but they are not working so good...
Leigh Dearle it might be worth applying it to both surfaces so it’s plastic on plastic, but it might just be too much weight to be effective. Hope you figure it out. It’d be cool to spend drawer money on more fuel instead. 👍

Hey thanks for the message. Over here indeed they have noticed some changes. Winter was very mild this year (talking Bishkek area) not as much snow and not as cold. -10 °c usually minus 30. And yesterday a local girl told us it will be heat wave 41°c. Never been like that for 40 years.

No catch can... I actually only heard about them recently. What does it do in layman's terms? 😉

@@leighdearle5965 Engine blow by (oily air) is vented from the engine back into the intake manifold to be burnt in the engine, in doing so the oil is caught in the manifold, valves, ports etc on it's way to the cylinder and causes them to carbon up and reduce performance. A catch can ensures the oily air which is vented from the crankcase is clean (no oil) before it is fed back into the engine’s air intake thus reducing the amount of oil/carbon in the intake tract.
When I replaced the cylinder head on my diesel the whole intake system was absolutely covered with oily/ carbon gunk, the buildup in the manifold was 10mm in places, the intake ports were almost blocked. When I cleaned it all and reassembled everything the performance was like night and day.

I was a bit worried when I saw you pour the fuel from the old filter to the new filter. I would only put clean fuel and maybe injector cleaner into the new filter.
You are likely to pour the dirt into the new filter.
Maybe save the fuel from the filter to help you light a fire.

It's only clean diesel in the filter as I drained the sediment and water from the bottom of the filter before transferring.
This diesel reused still needs to pass through the filter before reaching the engine so it is no different than fresh diesel.
