    Ty you helped a lot with my axel but it’s just that when I do it I always lean on the left side and drop down when I land I’m crunching my back and can’t get my leg out aat the back

    • @iskatecoach
      @iskatecoach  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey 👋🏻 this is quite common it can be caused by an inefficient “swap” of sides, weight I the wrong place for landing, swinging on the takeoff, bad posture, a wide delivery of the leg, opening too soon, and jumping round the corner there’s probably one or more of these happening. You can send me a video for feedback if you like? iskatecoach.co.uk/shop/video-analysis/

    Hi Paul, thank you sooo much for this great demo. I find your videos incredibly helpful and can't wait to try these on the ice. One question though: in step 4 (2ft 360) you rotate into the circle before you jump in order to make the full 360, but it doesn't look like you do it as much in step 5 when you add the one foot take off. Is that correct?

    • @iskatecoach
      @iskatecoach  Před rokem +2

      Yes the two foot version is really to help you feel a 360 and land forwards. For the final stages you should focus on using your edge and torque from your trailing side (my right side / arm / shoulder / leg / hip) in this demo. The one foot takeoff allows more of a pivot around the left side and also the use of the edge also helps this action so it’s good practice to not rely on turning into the circle. I doubt you’d make 1.5 rotations if you did this anyway as the tension needs to be held back, rather than delivering it first. Hope that helps

    Hi, I am struggling with the landing for a year now. On some days I am quite close, but the toepick touches the ice, so the landing is not clean. Any suggestions?

    • @iskatecoach
      @iskatecoach  Před rokem +2

      Do you mean on the landing? Posture in the step forward is key here, if you’re landing forward it’s really likely that you leant forward as you stepped forward into the jump, try to arch your back more upright as you take that step and it should help your landing 👍🏼

      @@iskatecoach Many thanks, I will try. Yes, I lean forward sometimes, the other times I land on stiff legs 😭. The thing is that all other jumps are landed properly....

  • @elixa562
    @elixa562 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Helppp I have a question. When you swing the free leg past the jumping leg how far up should you swing it before tucking it behind the jumping leg? (In the air) I heard the “h” position is good, but far from everyone does it. Some people just step forward horizontally in the air and tuck immediately. Is one “correct technique” or should you just do what works for you?

    • @iskatecoach
      @iskatecoach  Před 8 měsíci

      The h will help you get more lift, even if you don’t fully lift it in front of you going for a bigger swing will increase air time so still better than none. Bringing the leg in straight away gets your air position faster but will restrict your height. Some people are naturally more springy and do t need a big h some are really not and need all the help they can get.
      There’s also a “p” position which keeps the free FOOT by the knee of the takeoff leg and gets both the lift from the knee and the quick air position. I usually teach an h first then go to the p for the double. However I have skaters who snap in too.
      How far off are you? Do you know your air time for the single? Times around 0.4-0.5 seconds are the minimum air time. See if you can get an app to measure it, if you’re not there you might need the h. 👍🏼

    • @elixa562
      @elixa562 Před 8 měsíci

      @@iskatecoach Thank you so much for responding^^ i tried the “p” position off-ice, and it it does help to snap into postition quicker. I have videos of me off-ice doing an axel entrance, 1,5 rotations, but without crossing my legs. That was 0.5 seconds. I wish I could send my video in a comment so u could see lol. It’s so difficult for me to cross them. Also with scratch spin. Is this a strength issue? (I started skating 3 months ago btw so maybe I’m not so strong yet)
