The look on Melvyn Douglas’ face at 1:46 just breaks your heart. Harvey’s father could have been done in a very different way but Melvyn Douglas saved him from being hateable by bringing his wonderful tender warmth to the part. He deserved a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for this!
It's so weird to know they filmed this in the Lady of Good Voyage church in Gloucester. They even have the status of St. Peter, carried every every year in the Feast of St. Peter in Gloucester to this day.
