  • Right off the heels of Elec Man comes Guts Man. The truth is, I've been practising Guts Man a lot longer than Elec Man. While Elec Man came as a showcase of my personal ability and knowledge of Mega Man 1 and I was able to achieve it in one recorded run, Guts Man came from practice and dedication. I wanted to do Guts Man for a while. Maybe because his level is short, I felt like I could do it. I was certainly not prepared for the fight this level would give me.
Apart from using the Hyper Bomb on Guts Man, I wanted to use only the arm cannon on the stage, but I found it too tricky without using another weapon. Originally, the Picket Men caused problems. I could never surpass the third one with the arm cannon alone, so I had to utilise the services of the Fire Storm that annihilated them, making them a non-entity afterwards. After that, the Bladers gave me problems. They're luck dependent: sometimes they'll be savage and attack you, other times they will be passive and fly above your head. The other huge problem was the Big Eye at the end whom I swear is also RNG. I was just lucky in the final run. There was nothing more frustrating than wanting to practise dodging the Big Eye, but getting mauled by the Bladers instead. The lifts at the beginning of the level and their droning sound got so annoying because I did them so often.
Guts Man himself was relatively easy. This run was the only time I reached him while attempting to do a no damage run. It's a matter of timing and lobbing your Hyper Bombs efficiently to take him down and I'm so happy I finally did.
I promise my next no damage run won't be from Mega Man 1 or 4!
