This video and the music video was my childhood. Nostalgia!!!! kicking in. At around Middle school in 6th grade. I look back laughing and cracking up so badly when I was 12. My friends were listening to the song in middle school. I am currently in my second year of College and I’ll never forget it. It was so long.
The old grandpa in the music video kills me every time XD. If my grandpa started making weird noises while reading to me I'd freak out.

Why's it so popular? Because it's fun and has a good rhythm/sound. It helps that the video is done like it's a serious music video. You can't help but want to dance to it. I wonder how many people are thinking "What DOES the fox say?" The one lady nailed it, like Gangnam Style, it's fun. The music is good, you want to dance and you're forced to laugh and smile. I bet somewhere there is a room full of producers analyzing the success of these videos and trying to recreate it - NOTE: Don't try to hard!
It's popular because it's dumber than the people who watch it. It uses the same beat they've heard a million times, so it's attainable to their tiny minds.
