You can use your passive that reduces 75% damage on first hit against apexes, basically you hit them just a little bit after they hit you first and wait the 30s of combat debuff to do it again, basically trading 100 of their health with stab and losing around 45 healt against rex, just dont take more hits after you lose the buff and it's easy win
Pro tip hot Hatz players: Never land and try to take on a pack of small Dino’s, mainly because they will stand in front of you and restrict your from flying away. Never pick up the modded beaked packet or fight one because it is stupid broken. Never go near any raptors with pounce especially Velocciraptor. If fighting small Dino’s ALWAYS use wing beat when you can, it creates enough distance for you to do another attack if they charge in again.
This is practically the first official playable that doesn’t have a single best build, which is how every dino should be. Every peck is viable in different scenarios, evil eye is only good if you’re playing solo, and both hides are good for different situations. You also can’t go wrong with the stamina build.
tbh a lot of dinos have different "best builds" for different situations. Like an allo that sololy wants to take on small things and chase them down could use a full speed build, or one that just wants to tailride apexes super easily can use the full defense + traction build.
For all the quetz players here’s some tips For attacking hatz! Tip one: First off you can’t face tank a hatz.. should be obvious so never get into that situation you will die. Tip two: Peck barrage can easily be avoided just make sure to back off and immediately counter with a peck as soon as the animation is done playing. Tip three: Use wingbeat only if the hatz is right next to you. You always need to keep your distance! And thats how you win a quetz vs hatz fight 8 times out of 10.
Hatz is one of the more balanced dinos they can't really take on a apex solo unless its a really bad player but they can sometimes take on mid apexes but for the most part there made for killing baby's and small dinos like pachys and stuff the only real threat being raptors the only two complains I have for it is it doesn't have enough emotes and that it's really hard taking to the skies with these guys
Had 4(3 adult and ado) of these attack me when I was on my amarga, I had no problem killing one of em and then a kentro joined the fight and the hatzes decided to fly away. I think they were just bad at hatz but still was surprised at how quickly they go down when you focus em.
i will say (although not perfect), alio and drypto are likely your best chances at taking down a hatz as both are faster then it on ground and can take a hit or two while being able to stall out the barrage attack
A laten group could VERY easily kill a hatz np. Hatz bleed resistance is soo awful that even a single laten could do some serious bleed on the hatz! Plus hatz won’t be able to take off if a laten is pounced on them making them even a better counter!
megalania used to be considered a really good creature for players that play by themselves. Now i would definitely say that hatz is the best for a solo player since it’s a glass cannon that does lots of damage but has no health.
In my hatze grab build i use the normal peck instead of peck barrage.Yes you cant fight that well but its good for grabbing because you can still peck when your flying above them and you get stam back too.
One thing to note is that hatz has TERRIBLE bleed resistance! So make sure to be careful when your dealing with bleeders cuz they will! Bleed you out if your not careful
Bro the build you made is the exact build I made when I first played Hatze and I gotta say it’s BROKEN. Peck barrage basically has no cooldown since the animation is so long by the time it’s done you can use it straight after again and just spam, it’s so broken

I have a theory that it was a feather winged creature. Because there is no way something with a head that massive can fly. Unless its the Bumblebee thing
You can’t take off when a raptor is on your back. If a raptor jumps on you while you’re flying you can stay airborne and fly around with the raptor backpack.
For the grabbing playstyle build or should I stick with 3+ attack or go for 10+ flight stam? Also a tip : when tail riding apex be way more cautious that you want too, cuz hatze needs to build up speed to run so it puts u in a risky position when tailriding
tbf, that rex was shit at the game, any good apex will kill a solo hatz, i recommend stab + peck, against a good player, you wont ever stack enough of the other irrelevent hatz peck.
i think hat movement speed is too op, and i don't think this bird actually have that much speed on the ground with those small two legs, wide wings and long thin neck that wheigh a huge beak of head, or else why would they even have wings in the first place if they are that good on the ground? so I'd say it's best to nerf it's movement, clearly it's speed. for the damage I think it's good enough, but with that huge thick and long pointed sharp beak.. I think it deserve more damage, or like change barrage to high damage. I think hat is more suitable to be a in and out type of hunter/attacker than a walking clothes sewing machine.. 😅
The hatz has almost no counter play. It needs to have a slower sprint speed and that 50% maneuverability perk shouldnt even exist. If a hatz messes up and decides to get on the ground and fight an apex it should get punished if it doesnt skillfully tail ride it. It shouldnt be able to fly indefinitely, sprint as fast as a defense allo, have better turning than every other dino, do isnanse damage and then be able to just run away and fly off whenever. It needs to be strong but it needs counter play

I use peck as it does 65 dmg and it’s the only head slot you can use in the air and for some reason it regents stam

Armor buff also works well for me because I'm not the best fighter so having abit if armor is handy
not many ppl know this, but stab does 100 damage. I tested it with a friend thats like 10 bites for an apex to die!!!!!!

Im not too sure if flight stam makes the stamina drain slower while holding a creature, you could experiment with it if you want
For the tip: and that's why you use wing beat, it'll knock the apex pretty far giving you time to accelerate
Either sub would work but the stam one would be more beneficial
