だろうなぁと勝手に想像してしまいました。
Kimonos here in Japan are also dictated by fashion and style and it is hard to find a occasion to wear them. As a dressmaker my heart bleeds seeing many of them thrown away or being sold for dirt cheap so I highly support the upcycling of them but I know that many old-school people, or kimono police as some call them, might have their issues with projects like that. But I personally want to preserve the art rather than the idea. Someone worked on these designs for days, weeks, or even months and I think upcycling is a great way to honor that kind of hard work
I agree about upcycling them! I lived in Japan in the 1990s and brought back so many kimonos to the States with the thought to upcycling them. Work has always been so busy, I haven't had the chance. Every now and then, I take them out and pet them.
