No, that was step 3 :D step 1 get soda. Step 2 put in freezer. Step 3 ... Wait for multiple hours.... :| (It could be instant if you prep a bunch into the freezer and use whenever but there's a high chance they will explode or lose carbonation over time, not recommended)

My grandma taught us this when I was in second grade, I’m glad to see that other people know about it
I have learned from experience, if you leave anything carbonated in the freezer for too long it will literally explode in the freezer, it took forever to clean off. So yeah, dont forget to take it out of the freezer

Or, you can freeze half of the soda into ice cubes and blend them up with the other half of the soda in a blender. I make lemon slushies all of the time with lemon juice, ice, water, and sugar and it takes only about 5 minutes if you already have the ice.

Also, shaking it and opening and closing it real quick is worthless. Just freeze it and wait for it to thaw...
The reason it's called an instant slushy is because until you've done the thing of opening it and closing it, it hasn't frozen. It freezes instantly when you do that. That happened to me accidentally once and it freaked me out because I had no idea that was a thing!
@@margot024 you dont have to shake it though. its a fluid reaction. it just needs motion. You can just open it, and then put to lips and turn upside down, or tap the bottle few times. Shaking the soda just causes it go flat during freezing.
@@Gnomig01 That is correct. I did it with water, and I didn't shake it. The shaking isn't necessary, but the motion and the long time in the freezer both are.

Tip for the slushie: You know how some of the ice stays inside the bottle after all the soda is drained out? If, for whatever reason, you want to get that ice out, pop the lid back on and give the bottle a good shake, then try again. It should work.

One thing that me and my cousin like to do is take popsicles and crush them with a fork in a bowl, then add a little water and mix more while crushing it still. This makes really good instant slushies that only take about 5 minutes to make. What’s even better is that you can add as many popsicles and as many different flavors as you want! 😄
Another way is nelt the popsicles, crush ice in the blender and add the melted popsicles
