I said they are securities, which if granted by the court, an accused person deposits with the court, so that the case may continue to be heard while the accused is out of remand. Bail is a constitutional right. The weakness lies in the inability of the poor to afford legal representation and put forward their bond/bail application in a coherent manner for consideration by the court. With proper representation, alot of the people who are having their cases heard while they are behind the bars would have those cases heard while they are out on bond/bail. That is what is envisaged in the constitution.
