    To the comment on the Carrington Event, that was a solar flare in the late 1800's. The solar flare was so massive, it fried telegraph wires. If that event occurred today, it will knock out most power stations.

      If that happens today before any sort of hyperinflation event. Dollar bills will be king. Think about it. Most have no clue the value of silver. If you hit a big farmers market set up because stores closed. Ya I'm sure you could use some silver with a few people but you most likely won't get it's true value. Maybe some won't even trust your silver because of so many eagle counterfeits. Dlllar bills will be universally accepted and be king in that world.

    • @Userhfdryjjgddf
      @Userhfdryjjgddf Před 18 dny +1

      Plus their won't be an internet to see the price of silver. Try explaining that your silver is worth $300 an ounce to someone who doesn't even understand what silver is but they have what you desperately need. Again. Dollar bills will be king

    • @Paladinbri
      @Paladinbri Před 17 dny +1

      @@Userhfdryjjgddf Dollars will just be paper in such an event and worth nothing. No one can deposit them or make withdrawals. Commodities such as alcohol, cigarettes, food that does not perish, and ammunition become premium items during the initial shock. Valuables like precious metals will follow suit as local communities start to reform after the chaos.

    I can tell you this: i was a religious buyer since 2021 of all eagle and morgan/peace products. This price hike has me done. I could still afford it, it's just such an egregious hike I can't in principal support such bad behavior. It would be different if the announcement said the prices will go back down when silver does, but they won't do that. I'm done.

      More people indeed with a similar situation catching up to my salty disposition that came off maybe harsh to some as others are being to side with their pocket books. Remember , the U S Mint / Treasury is here to serve us , We the People. 3000 BC there were coins forged out of *Silver & #GOLD utilized as store of wealth & means of exchange. The return as we make this EVOLUTIONARY global turn is an opportunity for anyone to claim their share as we witness this transfer of Global value/ wealth 🤑 ⏳ BLOCKCHAIN & A I has already changed the World. We were warned. Now we reap what was sowed

      This is exactly how I feel. I have already written my congressman and cancelled all my silver orders except for the proof Morgan and Peace dollars and may still cancel them. I also called for the firing of the mint director is she can't get cost under control or if we, the collecting community, are paying for the cost of making business strike coins. They need to do an audit of the mint to see where the "increased cost" to the mint really is. I am sorry but after seeing what this administration has done with the borders, I am not surprised they screwed up the mint.

    • @eddieworley3409
      @eddieworley3409 Před 18 dny

      The way of the world is whatever the cost of an item you multiply it by at least 3 to resale , but that’s expecting someone to haggle with you on the product and request a minimum 10% off .The mint should do the same and basically give every repeat customer 10% off all products unsure if that would be enuff though .

    As an avid collector, im done buying from the mint as of now. Im focused on stacking 90 percent now. In 2017, the price of the silver proof set was $47.95 and now its $150. These price increases are way beyond inflation or any other bs excuses the mint gives

  • @slowrunner
    @slowrunner Před 18 dny +8

    Sales at The U.S. Mint will drop substantially. I will only buy from them again when they have a desirable low mintage coin at a resonable price.

    • @richardbrookins5406

      In other words you won't be buying anything else because the mint won't have anything at a reasonable price anymore.

    Let’s not forget that the Uncirculated Peace and Morgan were advertised as $67 in 2023 with a last minute $9 increase. This year’s increase is worse, but a predictable continuation of the trend.

  • @critterbob
    @critterbob Před 17 dny +3

    It is becoming questionable as to whether or not my purchasing coins from the mint is a practical investment. With a $91 price tag on uncirculated Morgan and Peace Dollars with less than 1 ounce of silver and the price of silver being around $31 an ounce, I don't understand their $15 price hike. This certainly does not seem like a good investment anymore. My purchasing a graded original Morgan or Peace dollar seems like a more feasible investment of higher numismatic value than modern strikes. And I stopped buying those yearly silver mint and proof sets completely, as the value just isn't there. The mint has now lost over 50% of my yearly purchases.

  • @marshallbilderback4368

    A boycott of the mint is a work in progress it depends if the P & M are just ho hum and not top quality and the mint tries to do something about being lazy: from design to to mint technique. If it improve the boycott isn't gaining to work. As to a cashless society what about all the countries that depend on our currency and of coarse who doesn't,t like crisp $100.00 dollar bills. As to the idea that if you have a few $100.00 bills that your a member of organize crime or your trying to stiff the government. As to germs on notes that has be totally disproved.

    I did the math at $76.00 and cancelled my Peace/Morgan subscriptions, took that money bought ASE's at $35.86. 2 weeks later get email announcing $95 hike - no way Jose sorry I'm out of overpriced U.S. Mint silver products. I can buy classic Peace Morgan BU coins for $38 - $50 on common dates or BU ASE's at $36.

    I guess I’m an outlier to this data set, as I’m largely indifferent to the pricing change. Our hobby is linked to the price action in commodities, so whatchagonnado? 🤷🏻‍♂️
    I guess all the stackers who are up what? 30% on silver so far this year will be boycotting all the gains if they go to sell at these prices?
    When the mint produces something great, I’m probably going to buy it. If they produce crap, I’m not a buyer at any price.
    Regarding a cashless society, the idea of programmable money is a bit disconcerting in the absence of guardrails to provide some air cover to preserve privacy. More than anything the US needs continued improvements to our settlement layer and speed up the rate of transactions closing.
    Keep on keeping on y’all. Cheers.
