Cars 2 is canon, the reason why it’s not mentioned in future cars projects is because 1) It doesn’t really fit in with the Cars timeline, it seems likely we’ll never see any (if not most) of the characters in Cars 2 make a return in any future Cars projects. 2) Pixar seems to be too embarrassed to acknowledge the fact that Cars 2 is a movie that actually exists
I think another point is that mcqueen didnt allow mater to go to races, but after the spy incident he did- and infact mater is always there at mcqueens races at Florida, holy moly the cars lore is messed up rn.
I think Cars 2 should've been that World Cup that happened in the background and the Mater stuff should've been a spin-off movie. It could be a conspiracy taking place during the race and the spin-off goes deeper into the Mater stuff. Cars 2 could end with Axelrod on the news and some mysteries about his connection to the exploding racers. I think another thing that'd make it better is if Mater had connections to the spies before like he's retired and playing dumb. It'd be less jokey and more like they need a retired veteran's help to catch Axelrod, it could dive into Mater lore, maybe he lost a significant other in the spy force and chose to return to a simpler life? It'd make him similar to Hudson in the way that they both moved on from their younger more crazy years and just want to relax. Edit: Fixed small grammatical issues.
Cars 2 is slightly canon when you think about it Lightning McQueen kept his flaming 95 bolt on the side of him and his headlights actually worked in Cars 3, and Mater said something about him getting wedding flaps meaning he'll get married to Holly Shiftwell!
You got a pretty good point also when Mqueen is training at the very start of the movie we can see Guido having a banner like thing that says 95 and world grand prix in one of his let's say "hands"
I honestly liked Cars 2 more than 1 & 3, just because as a kid, it was cool to see spy action. Even if it wasn’t technically a good story, it was just plain old cool for a young kid.

I honestly don’t even know where I got four from, I did a quick scan of the Norwegian dub of the movie to see if they changed it in the adaptation, and it doesn’t look like it. The only thing I can think of is that I mixed it up when writing the script and I accidentally wrote down the number of piston cups McQueen has in the beginning of Cars 2, because I can see that it was in my notes.
Not many people know this but in the scene where Smokey shows McQueen the newspaper clippings, one of the clippings has an image of Acer falling into the sewer truck. That really confirms that Cars 2 is canon.
There is one more thing. In cars 2 we can see that flo's v8 cafe has an expansion and her building is bigger. However in cars 3 and cars on the road, the cafe doesn't have the expansion. It is the way it was in the 1st movie

These videos about whether Cars 2 really happened are pretty hilarious. You don't see people questioning if Incredibles 2, Toy Story 2/3/4, or Finding Dory are canon to their respective series. You don't even see these kinds of video essays with Cars 3. It's only Cars 2. That really demonstrates just how much people hated that movie. It's been over 10 years since its release, and it's STILL treated like the black sheep of the Pixar movie lineup, so much so that even the folks at Pixar pretend that movie doesn't exist. I agree with the general consensus that Cars 2 was horrible by Pixar and general movie standards, but these videos are pretty hysterical. 🤣🤣
Toy Story 2, 3 and Cars 3 are definitely canon though, we know this because the entries that followed them continued on with the lore the previous installment introduced, and with Toy Story 5 coming up, we can assume that’s the case for Toy Story 4 as well (unless they pull a Cars 2 or just straight up retcons the entire story of course). Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory are harder to get any sort of solid evidence for, as they’re both currently the last installments of their respective series. Sure we can still theorize, but without much to back it up there isn’t much point in making a whole video on it imo.

Here is the funny thing, when Francesco is talking on Sarge’s program he “assumes/guesses” he goes 300 kph which in mph its only 186 but lightning is way faster than that by at least 12 mph

The ranking is not based on the overall quality of the movies, but rather how much enjoyment I get from watching them, which in Up’s case, after the married life bit, is very little, especially compared to the rest of Pixar’s catalogue. It might be a bit against the grain I suppose, but it is what it is, and I have already promised to rewatch it to see if I end up changing my mind, so there’s still hope for me.
