- “I didn’t have the farthest connection to acting growing up. I grew up with my family in our ancestral house in Gwalior, a house which, amidst property disputes and later, Papa’s death, never felt like a home. So right from the beginning, I dreamt of the day we could have our own-I wanted that for my mother.
After my father’s death, she had raised me alone, and happily supported me as I ventured onto such an unpredictable career. There’s this stereotype in small towns-one had to become an engineer or a doctor to be considered successful, but I wanted to break that stereotype. And even through my struggle, my good and bad days, she never lost faith in me.
So when I bought my home in Mumbai-the home of my dreams, it felt like an ode for all that she had done for me. And that was the most special feeling of them all!”
Sharad Kelkar-a versatile actor who has mesmerized audiences with his performances across the small and the big screen. He came from the small town of Gwalior and made his way to the city of dreams with nothing. But soon enough, he made a place for himself in the industry.
Whether it's his intense and impeccable portrayal of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a historical drama, his endearing portrayal as Nahar in Saath Phere or just being the voice behind Bahubali and Adipurush, Sharad’s incredible talent has shone through time again.
We had the honor of delving into the mind of this exceptional artist. We explored his journey in the industry, the challenges he has overcome, and the secrets behind his deep baritone.
