Transformer mon ghetto en château.
That was the dream of a little boy coming from the drug-stricken streets of Plaisance, a place where even the taxi drivers in the 80s and 90s dared not enter.
This dream led him to dance on the streets, and eventually form a boyband which went on to perform at some of the biggest international reggae festivals.
The little boy grew up to be a man who helped to break stigmas and taboos and raise awareness on social issues.
Together with his group OSB (Otentikk Street Brothers), Bruno Raya dared to speak up about AIDS at a time where sufferers were treated like social outcasts. He was one of the first Rastamen to feature on national TV on a show, Bonnto Klip, that subsequently became the most watched local programme on TV at the time.
