Apologies since you look similar to north eastern Indians the staff assumed you don't need detailed guidance. For every bread break a piece dip in curries, sauces or dry banchan n pick n eat with your preferred hand n mix curries, dal with rice n you can eat with spoon till you master eating with hands.

We call 'curry' sabji here in north idk about other part of our country but i am sure curry is not the word they ever use, curry is English given word. As far as i know we only have one dish with different type of meat we call curry that is chicken ,egg or mutton curry.

A lot of people don't feel comfortable eating with their hands, also not used to.. forcing people to eat in your way has nothing to do with being proud of your culture.. Imagine if Indians go to other Asian countries and are told they can only eat with chopsticks.. won't be a pleasant experience right? Let people do whatever they want to..

So just wanna let you know you confused pani puri with puri here..in pani puri the puri is small and it has different ingredients but what's served you here was puri it's similar to chapati aka roti all the difference is puri is fried with oil whereas roti is just baked..and both of them are eaten by tearing into small pieces and then dipping onto the sabji given. It's not supposed to be eaten like a bread. And the one you guys drank was buttermilk(chaas) which is far different from lassi. This contains spices and is salty good for the summers as it hydrates your body. Hope it helps you. I'm just happy to see you guys devour the food but just let you know how and what those things were. Thank you and welcome to India ❤

5:02 sir, sabzi (vegetable) aur chahiye? Do you need more vegetable?
Also I'd recommend you to watch some videos that shows how to eat chapati (tear a piece from in make a scoop and fill the vegetable in it) that would taste much better than eating chapati with very little vegetable.
Felt happy to see that white kurta guy, he eats so well.
My suggestion- visit vrindavan around sep/oct (a religious place) but do some research before, it's too hot nowadays. U can try going north indian states uttarakhand, Himachal (again do some research before, there are many frauds, if u do ur research well u can enjoy with a pocket friendly budget).
Best of luck to you, i hope you get to explore more such things in india.

I don't know if it's helpful or not. But plz always wash your hands with soap or water when you eat with your hands. It's the most basic hygiene routine every Indian follow. Since, not many foreigner know about these small habits of us Indian, we are always misunderstood. You can always find a wash basin in every Indian restaurant, or atleast an arrangement for washing hands. Always ask the waiter or restaurant staff for the washrooms/washbasin if you don't see one.
Note: this is just a small Indian fact that might be helpful in the future.
