This seems like a warm-hearted, fun community to belong to.
When they're all adults- absolutely!!! I love seeing these performances and would love to try myself. But I've seen too many kids get screwd up by competitivness, high standards and unprofessional teachers(And most times selfish parents). I think most dance schools just have to be permanently closed or reformed. Sorry for expressing my likely unwanted opinion
I agree so many places take all the fun out of it for the kids and they teach them that it's all about being the best not doing your best@@Keshkup

Damn, these west coast dancers really make it hard to hate on for dancing to the "wrong" music compared to "us" Lindy Hoppers when they have such energy and fun! Respect and love😍
What do you mean by wrong music. You can west coast swing to anything with a 4/4 count.

Jordan is so musculine dancer. He is so good in bringing his partner.
Emcee needs to understand that this is not about him. Even when they start ti dance he is STILL screwing around in the stage.
He's also a photographer, so the 'screwing around on the stage' is him taking photos.
@@2dcutout Seriously? He tries to talk over them, that's without mentioning the goofy moves he does, major attention seeking behavior. Watch more w/him, he does it in every one I've seen. You should never even hardly notice a photographer taking pics of a dance.
I didn't see him screw around once when they were dancing. He took pictures the entire time as soon as the song started.
I got tired of waiting for the dancing to start.

I love the videos from this event... HOWEVER, J&Js are supposed to be that you don't know who your partner will be, which is the case, but the other part to that is that you don't know your music. So I "get" having categories of music, BUT they should NOT get a quick listen. Just choose a category and dance to it.
The Budafest's Invitational is more Show than a real competition. They wanna give the champions the chance to dance their best dance :)
Strictly swing you aren't "supposed to" choreograph or know the song ahead of time, yet the swingcouver champ strictly is a thing and it's awesome. Some events have their fun idiosyncracies (granted, not all of them are always good ideas 😅). Budafest is not a pointed or even judged J&J (I think?) and if you want to watch top pros dance in a more traditional comp format there are 30+ other events a year you can see them do that :)
The main thing to know about this JnJ is that this one is a show, not a competition. No judges, no winners. Honestly, the “quick listen” is more to see if the crowd wants to see them dance to that song. If the crowd doesn’t go nuts when the sample is played, they’ll usually move on. It really does make for a great show. :)
@@Sirbradford13 Thank you for that explanation. It really helped. I still have my qualms about several aspects, but it's not worth any more of my time other than to say that I agree with Torri-that much of the discussion after the "quick listen" should be minimized, as it's begun to overshadow the actual dance, especially when the discussion takes more time than the dance itself.
As an audience member, I enjoyed the whole thing including the decision-making process.

The couple who danced "That Don't Impress Me Much!" did amazing! Jakub Jakoubek & Torri Zzaoui were genius! Creating moves on the fly together! Facial expressions and all! I was awed!
