Before my Dad passed we watched this every time I went to see him. He said, “That’s not singing. That’s worship!”
So sorry for your loss. Our beloved mom, loved this song so much. We played this song at our moms church services in memory of mom. Mom passed away 1 year ago. Just watching this vedio, has me crying so hard. I know you are watching this vedio in heaven. We all miss you so much. Love you always. RIP - MOM.

My take is a little more that yours. From the very first time I saw this video, i have remained with the same reaction. This is how you turn an honors and awards show into a church and turn the audience into a congregation and bring them to their feet in praise and honor to our Lord and Saviour.

I am seconding the request for Vince Gill performing live, "Go Rest High On Thst Mountain." It is a song he wrote about his brother when he passed away. He collaborates with 2 more great Country legends for this song and kills it!

Demons were jumping out of bodies in that audience. I am sure they returned to their celebrity hosts later, but it was powerful enough to banish them for a bit.

This is the perfect marriage of Gospel and Country. No other performance of this could ever beat it. It is Heaven-sent. Carrie and Vince FELT every word, every note, and so did the audience. You can't ask for more than that.
I loved when Carrie said that they had “opened the floodgates on this one.” 😭 Heck every time I have sung this in church growing up I’d get “that feeling.” Carrie was slain in the spirit whilst singing.. This performance is the best ever, “Change my Mind.” As Steven C. would say.
Never mind all that, look at the response of that crowd. Those are their peers, all immensely talented singers and musicians. That reaction is visceral.

Carrie was absolutely worshipping our Lord - and the rest of us got the absolute privilege of watching and listening to that astonishing performance. The Holy Spirit was on that stage that night. It was mind-blowing! There will NEVER be another performance of How Great Thou Art that can top that.

Vince Gill is a legend. Even before becoming one of the top male performers in country music, he was the lead singer & guitarist for the then-considered pop to pop-folk group Pure Prairie League. Their hit Let Me Love You Tonight is still a large order of Awesome Sauce for us ‘seasoned’ listeners/viewers/subs😉 As others have noted- Go Rest High On That Mountain is beautiful.

When God hears good praise to Himself and then sends His Holy Spirit to join in, we end up feeling that innermost sense of awe and reverance that stirs the soul, just as you felt it. Two other songs that do the same thing that I could HIGHLY recommend is David Phelps singing "O Holy Night" within the Gaither setting (David wearing a green sweater) and Mark Lowry singing with the acapella group Voctave his song of "Mary, Did You Know?" I'll almost guarantee a similar reaction as you felt here. Try it - you'll like it; and don't worry that we are leaving the holiday season.
