    WHFB is the reason that GW was ever able to make 40K. And WHFB would have never happened if not for Bryan Ansell.

      @ericdavis4964 Před 4 měsíci +1

      As to rules. GW stopped knowing how to make somewhat balanced and fun rules somewhere around 2001.
      The late 80s and especially the 90s were the best years creativity for GW.
      One could make a strong case that every product since that time period (90's) has been a reskin or rebranded of those original games.

      I only started in getting into GW products in 2017ish so I can’t really give much detail on the rules front + I begrudgingly learn them to play the games… when time permits 😅 Speaking of reskins/copy & paste I patiently wait for BFG.

      @@AlexAttemptsTabletop That might be a long wait. I never got to play the original BFG. Although I was told from people I knew back then it was a decent game.

      I am one of those people who played and knew GW back in the late 80s and early 90s. I can tell you the company back then compared to today might as well be 2 completely different companies.

    As to supply and these artificial shortages. GW is the means of production for their own products.
    Some of the profits that GW has made could have been re-invested into the company to improve and/or expand their production, supply and distribution network.
    GW has seen little to no inclination to do such a move as their current model seems to satisfy the profit margin and share holders demands.
    Basically this is the normal for GW.
    GW would only change if the stock was bought up and the company made private under new leadership.

      I think they’re apparently looking at building a 3rd warehouse/factory facility at Nottingham HQ. Citation needed etc. I know apparently since Rona times the ‘influx’ on demand has put them back behind schedule for many months. Now with the fortnightly release period you’d think that would create a little bit more time to produce product.
      I could ramble on with what if’s etc but I generally find it interesting at times. Especially relying on the likes of rulebooks / certain boxed games being produced in China you’d think GW would want to keep everything under one roof but as usual it’s all about £££ & I probably have a looking through the window outlook that is probably misinformed.
      Thanks for dropping on by as it’s appreciated & it was interesting to read your look on the situation.

      @@AlexAttemptsTabletop Modern day plastic injection machines can do a lot of sprues per hour.
      I worked for a company some 20+ years ago who did injected plastic and the would ship out hundreds a day.
      It took 1 operator for every 3-4 robotic injection machines.
      The machines would run approx 6 hours per day out of an 8 hour shift.
      In those 6 hours each machine could produce a half pallet of injected plastic.
      Each day a 48' trailer worth of product would go out the door.
      The machines can be ran 24 hours per day for days on end and is only limited by how much plastic you have on hand and how many people are there to operate/watch the machines.

    • @ericdavis4964
      @ericdavis4964 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I have zero information on what type or how many plastic injection machines GW owns and operates in every 24 hour cycle.
      What we do know is that GW has more then one production line running per cycle.
      If they did not then there releases would be spread out much further apart then the current release schedule.
      It really is up to GW to control how many sprues they plan on releasing per month or more likely per quarter and for which gaming line(s) they plan on releasing for.
      And then they can do the math to determine how long each machine needs to run to meet that quota.

    • @ericdavis4964
      @ericdavis4964 Před 4 měsíci +1

      For a better idea on what those numbers might be
      An aluminum or steel mold could contain a single sprue or for smaller sprues there could be multiple sprues per mold.
      If the average machine takes 2 minutes for injection, clamping and then cooling (which is slow in today's world).
      That still has an output of 30 sprues per hour per machine based on 1 sprue per mold.
      If you want more information here are 3 of the sites that I used to get a rough idea what modern day production is like.
      There are a ton more out there when you search for plastic injection machines.

    The only thing you need from GW is the rules. And those PDFs are freely available.
    Most factions are well covered by better sculpts from elsewhere. Started my Chorf army from scratch. 1500 pts without 3d printing a single model, or buying GW. I'm enjoying the game, and haven't given GW a cent.

    Old world sold a lot more than I think they expected and a lot of people seem to have dusted off their old armies. If you look at the GW store you will see that old world is listed on the main section along with 40K etc. it’s not under boxed games which suggests it’s part of their main product line.
    Total warhammer has elevated the desire for people to get into the game system and they are using this a lever into the market. There is a lot more content to come as well as reprints. The tomb king box is fantastic but you can’t buy all of the models yet in the army list.
    I played WHFB for years and It’s great to see it back. It’s a very different game to AoS …. There is a huge number of armies and lots of room for them to develop it.
    Stock is coming back in I’d suggest giving it a go 😇

    Old Worlds biggest problem has always been neglect (even outright sabotage from within) it seems. Seeing they can't keep it on the shelves + they're actually selling MORE AoS, things might be changing. I know many buying their 1st AoS sets (Chaos Warriors, Beastmen, Lizardmen, Vampire Counts) just to get something on the table for Old World. They really might as well slap the Old World label and proper names on some of those because we all know what they are. It's not like we're gonna avoid anything new coming out too, especially if it's closer to 28mm. I still can't even get a rulebook and I've re-subbed to WD after 15 years.

      I was at my nearest GW this past Friday & as I mentioned I was reading the OW novel on the train & I fancied a Arcane Journal for Kingdom of B to get some of that lore / background fix & there was nothing on the shelves. I understand if I rocked up launch weekend but the store being empty after a few weeks now… left me feeling kinda meh. This doesn’t reflect on the great staff there but I was kinda gutted. Out of stock online & also for 3rd party retailers.
      I think with the AOS section in a GW store they could easily sacrifice one unit of shelving for OW having books, movements trays etc. Would be a cake walk for staff to convince people to use AOS minis for OW while browsing etc.
      I’ve heard people who’s had a mixture of experiences getting everything they wanted straight away, people waiting way over than expected to get their orders & so on. I hope you get your hands on that rulebook & have fun with OW. I appreciate you stopping on by to comment, it’s appreciated 🙌

I think *salt needed* if it is a higher up call for the low effort approach of ‘here’s WHF look at the low support we tried etc excuse’ then it would be a shame. There are many reasons why shouldn't touch the "fantasy battles" twenty years ago, or the "old world" now even with long stick. The main thing: hobbies are people, community. After all these years, the fantasy community has not changed: it is a narcissistic sect of elitarists, gatekeeper and grognards. Claiming to be “the richest and most adult hobbists ever,” but at the same time having extremely hypocritical double standards.
    Decrownig these “fake kings” was karma, but inviting them back to the Warhammer community is a big mistake of the greedy GW. Tell me: has anyone in the fantasy community apologized for 9 years of aggression and lies against the Warhammer Age of Sigmar? No! Just more toxicity.
    GW,having returned the old world risks losing a lot of fresh blood that the Age of Sigmar brought. But they can’t make much money from the old world: since now is the era of 3D printing, I’m not even talking about the fact that fake pirated resin recast and alternatives have all remained in place.

      Hey, apologies for the late reply & I’m going to try give an overall response as there’s a few things to pick at.
      I was never around for fantasy & got into AOS at the end of 1st / start of 2nd edition. I was fortunate that there was a nice AOS community + some regulars who’d played fantasy & AOS but they acknowledged why fantasy ended. (Not saying it gave GW a free pass with the whole end times as I know that was kinda mishandled) that said… I had the pleasure of dealing with some people who disliked AOS due to how WFB ended (their loss) as they missed out on the fun + cool new minis. Taking their frustration out on players who couldn’t care for WHF was just a meme because… it’s a hobby move on? (I sympathise to a point while looking back but also it’s been nearly 10 yrs now? It’s like trying to get blood out of a stone.
      That’s my experience in a tiny little bubble of a community & I personally try not to overall throw people into group A, group B etc but that’s just me. Everyone is allowed an opinion (to a certain point). Onto GW… GW be doing what business do best. Make money. Be it players who never played / want to paint old minis - to the people who have nostalgia (extreme end of that is people still mad about WFB) everyone will get involved to some point. Some will just use the rules alongside 3D printed minis while others will pay £120 for a single old af ugly mini on eBay to play a game.
      I could ramble on myself & I know this isn’t a great response but I hope it conveys something at least? Thanks for stopping on by & checking out the video/ commenting etc
