  • Last winter Red Bull asked us to follow our buddy Marcus Kleveland on his first back country snowboarding experience in Asahi dake, Japan.
Taken under his wing by powder veterans, Eero Ettala and Heiki Sorsa, Marcus was shown the ropes and the results were pretty impressive.
Its no telling how good Marcus is going to be in a couple of years!

Watching a dude that can land a quad cork flounder around on those first few jumps made me feel better about my back country riding. Then by the end of the video I was very discouraged.

Marcus is gonna be the greatest of all time before he's 25. He has more natural talent than anyone ever imo. His IG is just insane.

Yep, totally agree. Since I saw him do a triple cork at the age of 15-16 and seeing how unique his style is, I knew he would definitely become the GOAT in the history of snowboarding.

What's so interesting about this is that Eero has a similar style to this Marcus kid. Except he's a generation older. Interesting mentor/mentee relationship.

@@LilrudolphAJ he has that fresh style that no one else has. A trend setter in "new" tricks. It's his style that makes him so great as a rider. Its all about the steaz! Idc what your wearing. Your outfit doesn't make the rider! 😉🤥😂

So you're telling me, if I get a hotel in the snowy part of Japan and just hike up one of the hills next to it, I'll be riding back country?

@@monikerkinakin6943 if there is no one patrolling besides "Rangers" if they have that.. (i have no idea about Japan resorts n riding backcountry) BUT, if you need a beacon, in any situation of isolation.. THAT IS BACKCOUNTRY! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT DEEP, SOUGHT AFTER POW! I wanted a Westin, split board, which is(was) locally crafted in CO. But since they outsourced their boards for production.. idk anymore. NOT the same pride, not truly supporting the locals.. not with it! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES! ❤👍👊👐👏💋

Shit gets real out there if unprepared, real quick. Life and death can be a blink of an eye if you don't know your way home or what your doing, safely and smartly. Well planned. Prepared for the worst. That's what makes people hard core that go on their own. People die everyday in avalanches! 🤤🤕😔
