    Loved hearing your thoughts and insights on this music, it also left me speechless the first time I heard it. It truly is otherworldly!
    Its part of the 2nd anniversary event for Arknights about a world-ending eldritch sea horror slowly starting to evolve to walk on land. Theres an official 3D animated video of this track from Arknights' very own 2022 concert.
    Really excited that more arknights requested reactions coming soon, especially the ones you listed because they are legit bangers!
    If you're wondering about the game itself, I'd say Arknights is more of a lore heavy visual novel with a dark anime undertone (the pictures you see from the video are actual cutscenes with dialogue in the game), with a free music album and a tower defense game in one package.
    It might not be for you, but for the story, art, and music alone is already worth trying for. There's already an anime adaptation btw, and season 2 is confirmed to be in production.😄

    This storyline revolves around these horrors deep in the ocean. I like to think the lyrics in this song is them singing. Some of the lines sound like "i need you" so I think it's them calling out for these "abyssal hunters" to come back home. Then again I also hear "we don't need you" so perhaps they are trying to kill them instead.

    Literally how I came back to Arknights. I lost my original account years ago so I just dropped the game.
    But then a few months ago I encountered the song 'Radiant' from Arknights and it literally sprung me back to the game.
    Arknights have amazing ass music.

    Arknights is pretty underrated, The most damn Tower Defense game who did damn insane about it.
    The story was good, but.... Their music are top tier, top enough for tower defense games, and one of the best of game music who did so insanely
    Randomly genre
    They're mixed everything to their music. Jazz, Rock, Pop, Metal, Traditional music, Italian, Russian, Chinese, and else
    And in this year, they will do their 3rd concert
    Anyway, great Reaction pal

      Underrated is probably not the correct word considering how many people play it... More like... Missunderstood...
      People need to understand HG is a music company who do games a side-gig.

      I said that because just less mentioned Arknights's music
      When they hear those music. Some said "this is really exist in game?", "Why I not hear this before?", "Wtf this is?!", "Stunned", and else
      Who playing this for min 1 month know about this game, but if less... They're just boring because the gameplay (Tower Defense) & too ez (chapter 0 - 2)
      But yeah,. You also not wrong tho

      @@khol1611 ,that's more of people who claim to know how games work who actually don't.
      I'm guessing they don't even realise that it was part of an event that has already occurred if they hop into it only because they heard of the event music.
      And as the one star reviews have shown,being "easy" is TOO HARD for some people.

      Arknights as a company I feel puts more time and money into there music, merch, events, creating there own fu**ing anime studio. And other things.
      The game in general feels like it doesn't take up much of the overall budget they get. And since the "tower defense" title kinda turns alot of people off they decided to make Arknights more of a Multimedia project.
      Like everything is they do is so good! The story, the music, the manga, they made a whole ass studio to make there own anime!
      It's do rare to see this kind of business strategy. I'm excited to see more from Hypergraph.

    @HateIsJustice Před rokem +17

    It honestly is a bit of a shame that you haven't gotten the chance to hear more of Arknight's music. They're personal music studio label, "Monster Siren Studio" does amazing productions, giving the game often the reputation of being a by a 'music company' first and a 'tactical tower defense gacha game' second lol. They're not afraid to be experimental with their music, yet still manage to make amazing tracks, within the restrains of fitting their own lore continuity to match the relevant themes, while bringing on all kinds of singers and musicians for them! The game's amazing, known for being very consumer friendly, very difficult and challenging as a strategy game, with tons of deep lore and world building referencing much of our own world in various ways!
    Under Tides is one of the many events of the game. This indeed plays for a pretty unique boss stage, a large stationary boss where in such a kind of game is usually a moving enemy you prevent from getting to your base, these stages usually have an actually hidden timer to them where you'll just instantly lose if said boss is still around by then. It's probably difficult to imagine brewing excitement in a "tower Defense" game, but they do a great job of immersing the player into it if given the chance, it's also still a 'strategy' game as well and will absolutely test you. That tension & challenge really helps them curate moments of thrill along with the music, story & feeling of accomplishment beating the stages!
    Have been with this game since day 1 about 3 years ago and I have only loved it more over that time. 💙
    Highly hope you get to hear more of it's music, be it stuff that actually plays in-game or the themes and such they release for characters or what not on their website, CZcams channel or Bili Bili.

    Firstly: as far as I'm aware, Go Shiina composed only Towerfierce in Arknights but I might be wrong.
    So just so you can understand some weird aspects of this music, a little context:
    "Under the Tides" is a side story event in the game focusing on the "Abyssal Hunters" (hence the title) who are fighting horrors from the abyss of the oceans called the "seaborns". Abyssal Hunters are pretty much biological weapons made by a submarine civilization from seaborn blood. The boss in this case is a priest transforming into one of these horrors. There's also the topic of "one day abyssal hunters might transform into some kind of the seaborn they hunt").
    So the singing and everything might make you think of submarine creatures like whales on purpose and I like the atmosphere it gives.
    The boss is called "Sal Viento Bishop Quintus" if you want to see on google what he looks like.
    On a side note if you decide to play Arknights a bit one day: pretty much all events are accessible even when they're "finished". We can go back to it whenever we want.

    • @YuriSteiner04
      @YuriSteiner04 Před rokem

      I don't like tower defense too, however after playing the game for over a year I think it's more like a puzzle strategy game, some people called it a strategy RPG, others a RTS. The game complex than to just call it a tower defense. And with the new game mode (CN only for now) that has a Warcraft 3 or Age of Empires 2 style of farming and a Clash of Clans defense style, I think Arknights has evolved from just a tower defense game.

  • @nekorion
    @nekorion Před rokem +8

    oh arknights neat.
    I played arknights for a little while because its a mobile game and i had the time to spend. Its a game i FULLY skipped all the lore, and played for the tower defense, but it was cool doing this event. The aesthetic was super different to the rest of the game, and it was fun in and of itself. Instead of generic dystopia you get a cthulu-esque chapter.

  • @ApplejackDaniels
    @ApplejackDaniels Před rokem +5

    Arknights has a main story, but it also has a lot of side events featuring units that you can use, and they get their own music and themes. This one was called Under Tides and was about a group of units called the Abyssal Hunters. I'd suggest either the boss theme of Ideal City or Guiding Light. Arknights also has a long list of great tracks that don't appear in the game, which are themes for their highest rarity characters, and almost every single one is incredible and the styles range incredibly.

    Tt's the rising and falling of the waves. It's deep dark abyssal underwater horror. It's sirens' wailing and drawing you in until you have no will left to escape. it's so alien and mysterious. It's unrelentless and overwhelming and irresistible. It's an orgy of monsters swarming towards you. A perfect theme song for the story. And the vocals are not reversed, it's just heavily modulated until it's unrecognizable. Play it backwards and you still won't hear anything recognizable.

    The singing tone reminds me alot about folklore singing on the balkans for some reason, that paired with the music used and the reversed lyrics sounds amazing for a folklore battle song for the AEgir (the race of abyssal hunters). Overall i love AEgir the most in Arknights and my second favorites are the Ursus. Really amazing story and songs for those factions, really unmatched by anything else in Arknights. Speaking of which Arknights has top tier music and if you're into music and reviewing/reacting to unique and good music then keep pumping out content about Arknight music, you gonna have some work up for you.

    The music was surprisingly well synced with the stages boss fight itself if it was being played in a "normal" way which I think may take away from the music without the context.

  • @therealcactoos9457

    I think the overwhelming nature of the song is intentional; this song is used in a boss fight, but while it fits, it’s a bit more tied in with the “siren song” nature of the Seaborn creatures and their progenitor Ishar Mla.

  • @andhikasoehalim3170
    @andhikasoehalim3170 Před rokem +1

    Abyssal Hunter emphasized the alien nature of the enemy so being overwhelmed by it is thematic.

  • @jillstingray8828
    @jillstingray8828 Před rokem +1

    I'll try to give a small brief lore explanation:
    People named Aegir managed to live under the sea, building cities, colonizing etc.. Until they stumbled upon some "Seaborns", Hive-minded creatures living in the deep sea.
    Because they angered them, a war started. Aegir started building countermeasures, because seaborns are very strong. One said counter measure is creating modified humans combining Seaborn blood, and their blood, creating "super humans", called Abyssal Hunters.
    At some point in the war, the Abyssal Hunters managed to kill their "god", but suffering huge casualties.
    Seaborns develop at a rapid rate, and they start to feel Abyssal Hunters got the same blood as them, and this song might their way of calling the Abyssal Hunters "home", their "bloodkins" back to their place.
    Seaborns are very... primitive creatures, working primarily on instincts, but recently a lot more have started to develop and even learn the speech of the humans, though they are still very much acting based on instinct (the instincts of procreating, and survival).
    There is a lot more to talk about here, but I tried to explain it as simple as possible.

    • @jillstingray8828
      @jillstingray8828 Před rokem

      I just want to add one more thing: Abyssal Hunters and Aegir are just a small part of this world. Honestly, the game developed at an astounding rate, and right now the entire lore feels... massive. Gigantic even. The world building, characters, regions in the game, history, traditions, concepts... They very much created another world, and are building it from the ground up,.

    A very horror like vibe, especially with the bass coming in since it sounds like something is after you. The next parts doesn't help change the feel of the song, this almost seems like you came across something you weren't supposed to see. Great atmosphere, the vocals sound unnerving. This fits the scariness of the deep ocean where this plays. The string section was nice and I like the little bit of a hopeful feel this has like you are slowly succeeding; this sometimes sounds otherworldly. This isn't for me, it's interesting but not my thing.

    they don't loop in the actual OST and some parts are longer.
    The remix cut some parts and remix them so they can loop forever.
    I'm not saying it's a bad remix but I want him to listen to the original
    And tell him the theme is "under tides"
